A golden hour to remember at the luminous De Gournay House 🌅✨

Golden Hour Social 2025 marked our third year bringing together the AANHPI creative community for an unforgettable evening of culture, connection, and celebration — in honor of AANHPI Heritage Month.

The house came alive as designers, storytellers, and leaders from across Los Angeles gathered to celebrate heritage, creativity, and community.
One of the evening’s most inspiring moments: awarding the very first AAPIDA scholarship — a meaningful milestone in our ongoing commitment to uplifting future AANHPI voices.

With record-breaking attendance and vibrant energy throughout, this year’s event felt especially memorable.

May Recap — A Moodboard of Moments ✨

As AANHPI heritage month comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on how @aapi_designalliance helped me see the deeper connection between being AAPI and my passion for design. This month pulled me out of the usual chase for deadlines and clients—and reminded me that it’s really about community, connection, and creating spaces that reflect identity and culture. Spaces that not only make us feel seen, but also uplift others—especially the next generation.

Huge shoutout to the LA chapter for being such a grounding and inspiring community. This month wouldn’t have meant nearly as much without each other. Every event, conversation, and story shared brought me back to how @matteblackoffwhite started—and why we’re committed to building it with intention and shaping a design ethos rooted in meaning.

Also… it’s almost World Interiors Day? Love that for us.💛

Following his passing in March 2021, the Rocky LaFleur Scholarship Fund was established to honor his passion for design education by supporting students attending Paris Déco Off and assisting with UCLA Extension tuition.⁠

KF holds an annual design competition for students enrolled in UCLA Extension’s Architecture & Interior Design program, to select the scholarship recipients. We congratulate and proudly recognize this year’s winners – Kaitlyn Darby, Jessica Lasher, and Calvin Ma! And we also thank our esteemed judges for their support – @kellywearstler, @jakearnold, and @theshookones.⁠

Somewhere, somehow, I landed in Paris down to the same exact week I arrived to study and live there 15 years ago. My past, present, and future were colliding in so many places these last few weeks.

I’m in such deep gratitude to have been able to start my year like this, surrounded by art, design, beauty, and new friendships.

Thank you to @kneedlerfauchere for their warmth, hospitality, and mentorship. It was an honor and quite cosmic to be there as a part of Rocky’s legacy, knowing how much he loved Paris and meeting many of his beloved friends and community.

Carrying these moments and inspiration in my mind and heart for a long time ❤️❤️❤️

We are proud to have awarded @calvin.picasso as one of the winners of the 1st Rocky LaFleur Scholarship Fund Competition - a reconceptualization of a Parisian apartment for our beloved Rocky LaFleur, a project provided by @elliottbarnesarchitect . It was an honor to have Calvin participate in the competition, and to have him join us in Paris this past January!⁠

"Ultimately, the project is a blend of design⁠ styles and cultural inspiration to symbolize⁠ the diversity of Paris as a design hub. It also⁠ harmonizes with Rocky’s character as a social⁠ animal who is always expanding his circle.⁠ Hints of Swedish, Japanese, English, African,⁠ French, Belgian, romantic, modern, and⁠ rustic are currently curated and placed in a⁠ harmonious blend. A duality of luxury and⁠ comfort, complexity and simplicity, curvaceous⁠
and linear forms, woods and metals, stones⁠ and fabrics, dark and light, and symmetry and⁠ asymmetry were all highly considered. Overall,⁠ this grand space remains open as a place of⁠ social connection."⁠ ❤️ #kneedlerfauchere #kfinsitu⁠
