Rehearsals are underway for the Wirtz Center's fall production of She Loves Me! Over the past 2 weeks, the cast, rehearsal room, and designers met for a first-day address and designer presentations, and the cast got started on music and choreography (featuring a special clip of the opening number!) Last week marked the end of the 2026 Ohio Light Opera season and the closing of The Red Mill! It feels impossible to capture the gratitude I have for the experience I had this summer. As a freelance designer, I often find myself as a team of one for projects. It was so wonderful to come to the theater each day and be surrounded by such a lovely, talented group. Thank you to each cast member for your consistent kindness throughout the season, your talent continued to amaze me with the opening of each show. Thank you to the entire production team behind The Red Mill - what a delightful fun show to conclude the season! A super special shout-out to the costume shop and wardrobe teams for your dedication to producing six fantastic shows! They truly conquered every request (even the sometimes absurd) with their incredible skills. I know each one of you will go on to do fantastic things. With happiness my soul is cloyed! 🥰 My third life-changing summer as a Resident Young Artist at Ohio Light Opera came to a close one week ago, and I’m already sorely missing Wooster and the many humans that made this season so magical and special ❤️ Thank you all for every game night, inside joke, silly backstage photo, and performance shared together - my heart is so full of you all and looking forward to the next time we have a song to sing, O!

💐 What a privilege to have spent the summer crooning like a bilious pigeon as the infamous squashed cabbage leaf of Covent Garden. 💐 Miss Dolittle, I too have learned something from your *idiotic* notions and for that I am so grateful. You are brave and intelligent as well as deeply feeling and ambitious in a world that advised you endlessly not to be. You taught me that words are our most precious resource and kindness our most invaluable commodity. You reminded me to trust myself - as an actor, as a woman - and furthermore reminded me that a man’s inability to clearly communicate his feelings is a conundrum woman have been facing since the beginning of time itself. I am endlessly grateful to the humans who supported me through this ghastly beast of a role. Eliza was a dream, and she was also one of the hardest roles I’ve ever played. To have done it alongside colleagues I am lucky enough to call friends on a stage I consider my artistic home is a gift I will carry with me long after “Loverly” is no longer stuck in my head. Eliza is called so many things. A squashed cabbage leaf, baggage, bilious pigeon, deliciously low, horribly dirty, a disgrace to the architecture of these columns, even a heartless guttersnipe. All I can say is I am incredibly grateful to have been a part of such a wonderful community of artists, performers, and creators this summer. Words cannot describe the fulfilling experience that this was, but every person on and offstage at Ohio Light Opera 2026 holds a special place in my heart.
