POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
One year ago the cast of @esiemensahcreations and the Company Life Program @nbs_enb hit the stage to premier ESHI at @ffdnorth . An emotional and moving work that has left an imprint on our hearts.

One year later I am grateful to share the vision of this work and my vision for the evening as Artist in Residence last year. I am excited to evolve and deepen my practice in beautiful ways. Expanding how I see myself as a choreographer and how I want to grow my artistry.

This company continues to take big strides to raise the bar with every production and performance. We lean into what makes us different and celebrate what separates us from the rest.

Every new work is a new beginning to showcase the best of what we have to offer. Continue to follow our journey and where this company of extraordinary people will go next!

There is exciting news to share on the horizon!

HALT by Andras Gorzo

I began creating this ballet in 2024, originally with 7 dancers as a short choreographic study for the Creative Lab at NBS. My artistic director at the time, Margaret Tracey, saw potential in my work and asked if I wanted to continue setting the piece on my colleagues in CLP. Fast forward to this past season—what had started as 2 minutes of material has now become a 12 minute long ballet. 10 dancers, 3 movements, performed throughout the year.

Where do I start? Thank you to everyone who was involved in the creation of this ballet. I wish I could tag you all. Whether you took the stage or you were with me in the studio, always remember that you were an integral part of my vision and have left a piece of yourself in this work. Somehow, you always took my craziest ideas and RAN with them. Your willingness, trust, and artistry helped bring my vision to life.

To Margaret Tracey, thank you for giving me the opportunity to further explore and develop my choreographic voice. The guidance and support you provided throughout the process means the world to me.

And HUGE thanks to @meichi_chou and @ewan.hartman for pouring their hearts into this role, to @daisyfeinstein for being the blueprint in 2024, and to @meguru_yasui for being my veteran from the OG cast all the way to our final show.

Hopefully this is not the end for Halt 😉

Earlier this month, I had my last day of school at Canada’s National Ballet School.

It’s hard to put into words how much this place has shaped me over the past four years, never mind trying to fit it into an IG post. I have grown tremendously and have learned what it means to truly be an artist. These photos show only a few of the many people at NBS who have shaped me into who I am today. From the bottom of my heart, thank you @nbs_enb for everything.

P.S. Swipe to see my first NBS audition photo 🫣
