First @_collectorx dinner and I’m still thinking about it. 🙌🏾

My dear friends @iamdaleburnett and @hassanksmith have created a space like I’ve never seen before, and having it at @lebernardinprive took it to another level.

The food, the people, the conversations. A whole room supporting Black artists and building Black wealth together. This is what we should all be trying to create.

Thank you for having us. Next time, let me cook 😂

August on Martha’s Vineyard is always something special. We were honored to welcome so many wonderful guests and leading brands to Harbor View Hotel for gatherings and stays throughout the month.

Recent features in @nytimes and @forbes captured the energy of the Island and some of the many gatherings taking place, including events hosted at Harbor View Hotel by @disney & @espn, @cartier and @_collectorx.

A special shoutout to @msdaglis, @sandlevents, @pseventdecor, @ppdgllc and @planitmarthasvineyard for bringing every detail to life so beautifully.

Grateful to our incredible team for making it all possible.

Martha’s Vineyard: Power, Purpose & Possibility

Excited to share my time on Martha’s Vineyard, where power, purpose, and possibility converged through conversations, community, culture, and connection.

In just three days, I had the opportunity to move through spaces centered on politics, art, capital, media, leadership, Black excellence, and joy. From connecting with @repayannapressley Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley and attending @bloomberg New Voices programming, to experiencing @ubs @_collectorx Collectors X, @theblackmancan The Black Man Can, and the historic Polar Bears of Martha’s Vineyard, each experience offered a different reminder of the power of showing up and being present.

One moment has stayed especially close to me. When I met Congresswoman Pressley, she shared that I was the first Black woman architect she had ever met.

I gave her two hugs.

Later, during her remarks, she shared a sentiment that deeply resonated with me: “By taking up space, you make space for others.”

As the 315th living African American woman to become a licensed architect in the United States, that is precisely what I have tried to do throughout my career. Taking up space has never simply been about occupying the room myself. It is about making the room larger for those coming behind me.

And, of course, there was GREATNESS. I was proud to visit Edgartown Books and see GREATNESS: Diverse Designers of Architecture on the shelves, continuing its journey into new communities. @oro_editions

I arrived on Martha’s Vineyard without a keynote to deliver, an award to receive, or an exhibition to unveil. I left reminded that not every meaningful opportunity begins on a stage. Sometimes it begins with a conversation, an introduction, a shared experience, or simply being present in the right room with an open heart and mind.

Grateful for the relationships formed, the conversations shared, and the possibilities ahead.

It's an honor to be recognized by @Forbes for showcasing the beauty and cultural richness that is Martha's Vineyard. For emerging brands like @_CollectorX and @Vineyard_Icon, that are passionate about carrying the Island's legacy of Black Excellence forward, it is especially humbling to have our events recognized alongside activations led by storied brands like @Disney, @McKinsey, @Cartier and the @MVAFF.

Everything we do on Martha’s Vineyard, we do with distinction and an eye toward passing this great heritage to the next generation.

Martha’s Vineyard x LVMH 2026.

As someone that previously has gone to MV solely to vacation and relax with family and friends, but now goes mainly for work…I have seen (and am somewhat guilty of) the change and “corporatization” of the island in August. And while all things change, I fully understand why so many want to preserve what this place has been historically. LVMH has tried to do both. We try not to be invasive, but inclusive. We are incredibly aware, MV doesn’t need us. Quite the opposite…we need it! Our approach is - even though it may look and feel different now…it’s importance, legacy and heritage must remain intact.

So we try to be intentional, respectful and authentic in who and how we partner and sponsor. This year @hennessyus and @moetchandon did just that. Shout out to this year’s partners:
1. @cup.usa for the mentorship they provide to black corporate professionals
2. @studioql_ for curating space for GenZ to embrace the art world, both as emerging artists and collectors
3. @_collectorx for creating a room for seasoned artists and art patrons of the diaspora to come together.

This is a safe haven…we will treat it as such!

(And shout out to all the unsung heroes. It is not easy activating on this island. Logistics, ferry schedules, production costs….maaaaaaan! 😩 So all the event planners/producers, caterers, courier services, etc…we appreciate you….bc maaaaaaan! 😩 🤣🤣🤣)

I bring you a tale of our collective conscience on trial, cajoled by the wooing of chaos and only the flickering flame of hope promises a better tomorrow... while the moon sits lonely as witness from the days of our ancestors and far after ours. She sits hoping for a different plot to the never ending cycle fueled by greed. Has lady justice lost her fashion sense or does her ragged outfit hold the map to where it all went wrong... Will she finally find her fingers to aid her in passing judgement or at least hoist the flag of a once great nation, or is she saddled with the burden of a justice that never prevails while citizens question her blindfold... Is she being impartial or is she being forced not to see. We are aware of the serpents presence... We are aware of it's whispers. As the hour passes, the ground riddled with bullets mistaken for seeds we do not look forward to what it will sprout... As lady justice nurses her bleeding wounds, we can only pray the flickering flame continues to out weigh the corruption.
