This has been an amazing senior year, and I’m so glad I go to spend it with these amazing people. I can’t wait to see where the future will take us, but I’m glad I got to be a little part of all of your story.

To the Seniors,

When I first came to Hazel Green after graduating from UNA, I felt both excitement and fear. I was excited to meet my first students in America, but also worried if I would do well. But after the first few weeks, I started to feel like a true Trojan. Through school events and sports, we became one family. (Prom… let’s just forget about that one.)

I know I was not a good teacher, and I still have a lot to improve. But I always tried to do best with you, and I truly hoped you enjoyed your high school years. Thank you for listening to my classes. Teaching class of 2026 has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

When I was younger, I couldn’t wait to grow up. But now I realize that high school was one of the happiest times of my life. Spending time with friends, laughing, and living without so many worries. Someday, I think you’ll look back and feel the same way. And if I’m even a small part of those memories, that would mean a lot to me.

After graduation, many of you will head to college, work, or the military. Life ahead won’t always be easy. But life is not only about hardships. The British writer Vivian Greene once said, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.” Maybe one day you’ll literally find someone crazy enough to dance with you in the middle of the storm(I still haven’t found yet dang it). But through all those challenges, you will grow stronger. And when those difficult moments come, sometimes you just have to let yourself move with the storm. That's what I'm doing on the other side of the world right now.

As many of you already know, I’ll also gonna leave HGHS with you. I still don’t know where my next destination will be. Maybe Georgia. or Texas and other States. Maybe go back to Korea. I wanted to stay here, but life does not always go the way we hope. Still, I do not blame anyone. I trust that God will guide my path, and I will follow wherever He leads me.

So everyone, see you next Tuesday.

- Your best funny teacher, Mr. Kim. -
