🏈 TOP 10 PROGRAMS SINCE 2017: NO. 7 ST. XAVIER BOMBERS 🏈

The End Zone Report countdown continues with one of Ohio’s most recognized football programs.

The St. Xavier Bombers check in at No. 7 among the top programs from the Dayton and Cincinnati regions since 2017.

St. Xavier’s résumé during this period is built around two trips to Canton. In 2020, the Bombers completed a 10–2 season by defeating Pickerington Central 44–3 for the Division I state championship—the largest winning margin in a Division I state-final game.

Five years later, St. Xavier returned to Ohio’s biggest stage. The Bombers finished the 2025 season 11–3, captured the Division I Region 4 championship, defeated Middletown in the state semifinal and finished as the Division I state runner-up.

From 2017–2025, St. Xavier compiled a 78–35 record while navigating one of the most demanding schedules in Ohio. The Bombers recorded six seasons with at least nine victories, proving their ability to remain competitive at the Division I level year after year.

At the center of the program is head coach Steve Specht—St. Xavier’s all-time wins leader and the architect of four Division I state championships in 2005, 2007, 2016 and 2020.

The Bombers have also produced an impressive pipeline of college and professional talent, including Sean Clifford, Liam Clifford, Marshall Lang, Matt Bockhorst, Brian Parker II, Max Klare, Ted Hammond, Gordy Sulfsted and several others.

A state championship. Another state-final appearance. Elite coaching. Division I staying power. A deep player-development pipeline.

That complete body of work earns the St. Xavier Bombers the No. 7 position in our countdown.

Should St. Xavier be ranked higher, lower or exactly where we placed them? Let us know below. 👇
