Most folks don’t know much about the Deaf community.

But I grew up in the middle of it.

My mom's Deaf. I was her bridge to the hearing world before I even knew what that meant. I watched her get overlooked, talked over, and left out of rooms she deserved to be in. And I choose to make sure that changes.

ASL isn’t just a language. It’s a culture. With rich history, pride, and its own fight. One that’s still happening.

The Deaf community is one of the most underserved communities in the United States of America. Most people don’t know that. That’s part of the problem.

But every time someone learns one sign and every time a Deaf person sees themselves on a main stage, big things shift. Access changes people. And representation changes people.

I didn’t choose this life. It chose me. And I’m grateful every single day that it did.

You don’t have to be Deaf to care about this. You just have to be willing to listen with your eyes.

Welcome to the culture.

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: A carousel that tells a story. Slides include me performing on stage, a childhood photo of my mom signing with me as a baby, a photo of young me in a school picture, b-roll footage with text fading in like a story being told, a group shot at a show, and a closing stage performance image. Yellow bold text on each slide shares facts and personal reflections about the Deaf community and what it means to grow up as a CODA. Music: Dog Days Are Over by Florence and the Machine.
