How do you completely change a room… without changing what makes it special?

In a historic home, sometimes the most important part of the design is knowing what not to change.

For this dining room, I wanted to preserve everything that gave the space its history and soul - the original beams, the proportions, the warmth and wonderful imperfections - while completely reimagining how the room felt.

I exposed and celebrated the structure rather than disguising it, lightened the walls and ceiling to let those beautiful old beams stand out, and layered in furnishings, lighting and collections that feel collected rather than “decorated.”

The room is completely transformed, but somehow feels even more like itself.

Preserving the past doesn’t mean living in it. 🤍

When you get to create with friends, it’s always worth it. A sneak peek into a fun project almost ready to launch. Thank you @_david_land for the photos, @anna.niedermeyer for the beautiful soft styling and heavy lifting! Art direction and prop styling by me. More to come.

Fall weekends were made for paint projects! Get the look of fancy bone inlay with a flower-and-leaf stencil. It's one of our favorite upgrades! ✨ 🎨

Months of work. One day to capture it all.

The photoshoot is the culmination of an entire project: the designing, planning, renovations, and all the people who helped bring the vision to life, captured in a single moment.

Shoot days are far from glamorous, but are most rewarding. There are countless people, moving parts, and unexpected factors behind every final image. Yes, even a thunder storm😩

Here’s what really happens behind the shoot.
