🌸✨️Kintsugi Workshop x Curel✨️🌸

✨️ On Friday I attended a wonderful Japanese workshop with my mum at Studio Pottery London.

✨️ The art of kintsugi is something I've always wanted to try & we learnt with the best teachers- Brandon & Nhe from @kinboru_uk.

✨️ With a mask on and no glasses I found it quite tricky but we embraced the art of imperfection & loved the result of our bowls!

🌸 Thank you so much to @curel_japanese_skincare for the invite & we look forward to using the new range. 💛

Hello & welcome to my new followers!🌸

Thank you so much for visiting my page.💜

I thought I'd give you a little update and intro... I'm Maria & I love Sakura, (cherry blossom in Japanese), crafting, photography & Japanese culture 🌸

I've had this page for nearly 2 years now & I've almost given it up numerous times. However, @southendcityjamofficial 's amazing 3 day street art event has given me a huge boost to keep going...especially as they've asked me to be an official photographer next year 🎉 TYSM 🙏

I can offer:
🌸 craft workshops/ parties (like this short reel),
🌸 photoshoots,
🌸 English lessons (I'm a qualified English teacher) &
🌸I sell my art & photography. 📸🎨

Please get in touch if you'd like to work with me. 🌸✨️

Special thanks to all the businesses I have collaborated with since I started Sakura & to those who have supported me. It means more than you know. 🙏✨️

🐶 XMAS GIFTS THAT I GOT FROM SMALL BUSINESSES (CONTINUED FROM 2024) - PART 5 🐶

for xmas 2024 I wanted to get as many gifts as possible from as many small businesses as possible and I wanted to try and do the same thing in 2025, so I’m continuing this mini series by showing you guys another absolutely stunning gift that I got from another very talented small business. this is a personalised wooden pet portrait that I got from @_decophoria_, via their website, as a gift for my dad🥰

when I saw that the lovely people over at decophoria made these gorgeous pet portraits, I couldn’t resist ordering one. I contacted them to ask if the photos I had would work for the type of engraving that was on the portraits and honestly, I’ve never experienced such amazing customer service. I sent across 3 different photos and they sent back mockups of each one, so that I could choose which I preferred and they even allowed me to make tweaks to the final image, before it was engraved, to make doubly sure that I was happy with it. it was such a stress free interaction that I would usually dread because I’m super indecisive and worry people get annoyed at me😆

not only is the custom pet portrait that they created for me absolutely perfect and look just like our late dog, it was made and shipped super quickly too. I genuinely can’t recommend this family-run business enough!!!

definitely check out their website (linked in their bio) if you’re on the hunt for anything wooden, they have such a wide variety of incredible products to choose from at very affordable prices☺️

stay groovy anyway, guys, and have a fab rest of the day today🐾

Today marks 1 year since I launched my business Sakura. 🌸🎉💜

It has been a rollercoaster of a year & I feel extremely grateful for all the love & support I have received. 🦋

Thank you to everyone who has given me words of encouragement. It makes me emotional thinking about how much growth I have made & I hope to continue blossoming. 🌸

These are some of my Sakura highlights:

✨️Crafting with my niece (aka my mascot), family, friends & the community

✨️Meeting supportive artists

✨️Being invited to present at Globetrotters about living & working in Japan plus deliver an origami workshop!

✨️Delivering a Japan-inspired workshop to unpaid carers at Matipo

✨️Leading a fun drop-in session at the Hang Out Venue for local young people interested in Japan.

✨️Being nominated for an award from the Government of Japan for my contribution to establishing relationships between Japan & the UK as part of the SWY programme alumni (Ship for World Youth).

✨️Collaborating with local artists & businesses to deliver:
- a photography & poetry exhibition,
- a market stall at an artisan market (& selling my work),
- facilitating workshops at community events &
-creating a video piece shown on the big screen in Basildon as part of Estuary Festival!

✨️Exhibiting my photography from Madagascar at the new gallery, Hadleigh Gallery, alongside local artists.

✨️Seeing my photographs in print in the local newspaper...

...plus much more!

If you are thinking about starting something, my advice is to "go for it!" ✌️

Did you know today (11/11) is world origami day? ✨️

This photo is from 2013 when I was teaching English in a senior high school in Nara on the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET).

I set up a postcard exchange between my English Speaking Club members and students studying Japanese at my old high school in Southend, England.

My students chose to send origami, purikura and calligraphy alongside their postcards. They loved making them and receiving mail from England!

In my next craft workshop, we will be making origami & decorating earrings made by Decophoria.

Come along to Lenny's next Thursday to learn this beautiful craft!

DM me or see the link in bio for details. 🌸✨️💜📮

On Sunday @matipoarts & @roots2wellbeing invited me to @parndonmillharlow to run a Japan-inspired craft workshop! 🌸

It was a wonderful afternoon, the sun was shining & the autumn leaves looked beautiful. 🌞

Most people had never made origami, wax seals or used washi tape before. I was really impressed with everyone's enthusiasm. The results warmed my heart & I placed a big order for more wax stamps to celebrate 💜🥳

I was so busy that I didn't get too many photos. If you attended, please tag me in your photos. ✨️
