Ashley Bones: The Bimbo Cannibal
Dir. Lee Dubin

Ashley Bones is just your regular pink-loving bimbo-core girly girl, with an absolutely relentless hunger for the flesh and blood of men. She is always on the hunt for the most irritating boys she can find, because there is just something about their insecure hyper-masculinity that makes their flesh taste so good when served with some light seasoning and a side of gluten-free pasta. But for the first time literally EVER, Ashley has a hard time luring in the perfect target…
What to love
The irresistible ‘good for her’ energy coursing through the veins of this film
That colour palette
Blending horror, comedy and a bubblegum pop persona
Julia Rome’s performance is undeniable

The verdict
Ashley Bones: The Bimbo Cannibal does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a balls to the wall, campy affair with ‘good for her’ energy interwoven through punchy dialogue and a fun story. The casting is great, with Julia Rome delivering an undeniable performance. There’s a perfect blend of horror, comedy and a bubblegum pop persona which slides into Patrick Bateman territory at a moment’s notice. The bimbo façade of Ashley is echoed in a rich colour palette that washes over you. Such a wonderfully fun indie horror short that isn’t afraid to make you laugh, wince and applaud at the end credits. This gave me so moments of Clueless energy and I was here for every one of them.

For fans of
Cannibal Mukbang (2023)
American Psycho (2000)
Clueless (1995)

I never used to like taking photos but then a year ago (today) I lost my phone in the ocean and got a flip phone. And all of a sudden, once I didn't have a nice camera in my pocket, I kind of wanted to take some pictures.

The first camera I got was this 110 film camera from a thrift store in Joshua Tree.

The film is overly expensive. Developing is expensive. Nobody seems to know how to develop it properly. I barely know how to use it.
Only like 1 in 10 photos look any good.

These are some of the 1 in 10.
