The Carmilla Night Fair took place last Saturday Night 3rd October at Live Art Ireland in North Tipperary. The evening of art, crafts, theatre, poetry, music, dance and food was beautifully captured by Thurles based photographer Debbie Hickey @debstudioten

Multiple events took place at the same time through out Live Art Ireland. The Red Room: A horror writing workshop and a cold reading of the script Carmilla with Rhayn Abner, with sound effects by Brendan Egan. The Blue Room: A sound installation by Synthesize_Her, with a performance by [SPIT] with Viva Dean and Róisín Berg. The Conservatory: Two back to back craft workshops with Jennifer Ryan-Kelly. The Barn: An Exhibition and live painting by Didi Delaney. Later in the evening events continued throughout the spaces. The Red Room: Queer poetry by Litreacha, 4 queer poets based in Cork City. The Conservatory: A newly developed DJ set by Brendan Egan inspired by the novel Carmilla and dance. Carla Lebreton Lorente, a chef based in Cloughjordan, Co. Tipperary, prepared vegetarian and vegan nibbles flavoured with fermented goods and foraged herbs.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to this event and thank you to all the performers and artists. Thank you to the team at Live Art Ireland and North Tipperary Queer Shed for all the background work. Thank you to Debbie Hickey for the photos. Thank you to Carla Lebreton Lorente for the food.

We look forward to running similar events in the future, creating a safe rural queer space in the countryside of North Tipperary.

Didi Delaney, a fine artist from Nenagh and currently studying in LSAD, will be exhibiting their new work in the Barn at Live Art Ireland in North Tipperary during 'The Carmilla Night Fair'. They will be live painting and creating a space for queer art.

"Hi! My name is Didi. I’m a painter who enjoys exploring a variety of subjects, I am always being mindful of the materiality and physical qualities of paint and how that materiality and the subject matter can relate to one another. A lot of my recent work has been shaped by my journey of my own queer identity, alongside my love and passion for nature. I’m interested in how my personal experiences within queer spaces and my passion for the beauty of nature (birds, plants, trees, etc) can come together through painting and the possibilities of the medium itself."

Extra event details: The Carmilla Night Fair. Saturday October 3rd. The tickets are €30. Link in bio. On sale now. Please get in touch with us if you cannot pay the full price of the ticket but would still like to go. The events starts at 5pm but we recommend arriving at 4pm. Events will be happening simultaneously in different areas around Live Art Ireland. There is an option to camp at Live Art Ireland on Saturday night or to stay in the house (first come first serve - there is an extra fee for staying in the house - PM 2 book).

Please note most event spaces are accessed by stairs

Huzzah!! Here are some more artists for the Day 1 Art Market!

🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧

Rafael Mendes
“Rafael Mendes is a multidisciplinary artist, poet, and photographer based in Cork, Ireland. In his Inverted Bokeh series, he uses a 90mm lens, natural light, and foreground colour to turn Irish nature into painterly, dreamlike photographic prints, transforming overlooked places into emotional landscapes of shadow, movement, and wonder. “ strubloid

Regina Granahan
“My name is Gina, I am a self-taught queer artist from Mayo. I find inspiration in all things stupid, silly, colourful and gay! I work with soft oil-pastels the most but some pieces are painted with acrylic, I make small prints and vinyl stickers of my work and love seeing people enjoy and share my art” @an.bhuidin

Vanessa Rio
“I am a 24-year-old artist from Spain, currently based in Cork. I studied Fine Arts in Barcelona, where I participated in a range of art and zine festivals. My practice focuses on mixed-media illustration, exploring themes of female corporeality, feminine experience, and female rage.” @vanfres4

Hannah-Maria Morrison-Poulter
“Drawing inspiration from the Cailleach or the veiled one, I create a landscape of textiles. My work seeks to unravel the threads that bind humanity to the natural world and to the stories that have been woven through time, as individual journeys through the ancient world, and hidden landscape of Ireland.” @hannahpoulter.artist

Letizia Derighetti
“Hi, I’m Letizia. My work is built through layers of detail and imperfection. I mainly draw portraits to explore emotion, inking feelings onto paper with nothing more than a biro pen and Tipp-Ex.” @laetitia.s.inks

Charlie Riff
I am a cork-based print artist and student in Crawford enthusiastic about sharing my art and find my studies! I enjoy print because truly anyone can do it and every result comes out a little bit different, so pop over, have a chat, and support your little artist friends :) “ @Cr.aft2024
