📍 KL, Malaysia
Nice cozy bar right upstairs during my 5 nights stay in KL in @kimptonnaluriakl . Right up to Level 26 for Four Siblings Bar & Lounge @foursiblingskl .

The whole concept is a total vibe—their menu pays homage to the historic spice trade, centered completely around 4 key spices: Cloves, Cardamom, Star Anise, and Cinnamon.

The vibe here is immaculate. Killer skyline views paired with amazing bar food. The head bartender @_dnnychoo absolutely crushes it with the flavor pairings.

Speaking of drinks... hands down, my favorite was Sip Happens. It’s basically kopitiam culture reimagined as an elevated rooftop cocktail. It features spiced rum, pandan, espresso, Milo, and Vietnamese star anise. It’s velvety, malty, and feels like a warm hug but with a serious kick of rum.

Same comfort, completely different hour!

吉隆坡高空微醺新去處：Four Siblings

Four Siblings (@foursiblingskl) is the signature bar of Kimpton Naluria KL, and its name comes from the four spices – star anise, clove, cinnamon and cardamom – that are the backbone of Malaysian cooking, and are essential ingredients in kitchens across the country.

Each of the 8 signature cocktails includes one of the spices, adding a sense of familiarity and nostalgia to the drinks.

Cardamom really shines in the BEES SNEEZE, which, despite what the name suggests, is not a twist of the Bee’s Knees, but a spiced, toasty coconut take on the Jungle Bird, served with a lovely flavour bubble on top. This is easily my favourite drink on this menu.

ROSCA mixes vodka and tuak with guava shrub and cardamom, serving it in a rock glass with ice for an unorthodox take on a dirty martini (which I would prefer to be an actual martini, tbh).

For something light and cinammon-y, try the FLOR DO MAR, which comes with a delicious salted coconut foam. The spice also gets a warm welcome in ROOTS & RHYTHM, a beetroot-centric White Lady-like tipple.

Star anise can be quite overpowering if used improperly, but this was not the case with NUTTY LIME, which balances the spice with ameretto, and some pandan for a silky local twist on the Pisco Sour.

Star anise also, er, stars in SIP HAPPENS, adding a zing of spice to the malty, Neslo-inspired take on the espresso martini.

Clove gets some love through CLOVE & VINE, a refreshing highball-style drink with pisco, green apple, and verjus with the clove adding gentle spice notes to the fruity fizz.

Last but not least is the oddly named WARNING: CIGARETTE IS ADDICTIVE, a rich, smoky, spice rum Old Fashioned inspired by (but not containing) clove-scented kretek cigarettes. A dark chocolate enhances the spiced notes even further, making for a great drink to end the night.

What I really liked about this menu is that every drink brings out the flavours and uniqueness of each spice in a way that does not overpower the other ingredients. A pretty solid debut for Four Siblings, I must say.

✨ Rooftop vibes, skyline views, and spiced cocktails 🌆

@FourSiblingsKL is a rooftop bar at @KimptonNaluriaKL, a new hotel in TRX.

Named after 4 key local spices - star anise, cinnamon, cardamom, and clove (aka rempah empat beradik) - the concept runs through everything on the menu.

Their 8 signature cocktails are grouped by the 4 spices, and the food is designed for sharing with four — making it ideal for a relaxing small-group catch-up.

You can also enjoy the vibes al fresco, with the pool and city skyline as your backdrop.

At home, September was about discovery. It started during Penang Cocktail Week, an opportunity to bond with friends over drinks.

Meeting up became a regular thing during the month — pickleball matches (seriously, why is it so hard to organize in KL?), late-night mamak sessions and disrupting a particular WhatsApp group chat constantly with dropping plans and photos and exchanging inside jokes.

Here's to a group that's coaching me on hand gestures to use when I say kenot lah and enlightening me that hokkien mee isn't always charcoal-colored. Cheers to many more good times ahead, ones we can all remember. 👀🥂

To everyone at @threexco_kl huge congratulations!!
It was only for a short time, but I’m truly grateful I had the chance to work with you — it was absolutely amazing.

I was always sure you’d make it into the top 50, but ranking 15th? I’m honestly in awe!
I feel so incredibly happy and moved, as if it were my own achievement.

I’m sure the bar will become so busy that it’ll be hard to casually drop by,
but I’ll definitely come visit again one day!

I’m proud to have worked with all of you.
I’ll keep working hard to grow my skills so I can stand on the same stage as you someday.

Once again, congratulations — and thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
