I’ve been a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. for almost 17 years, and if you know me, then you know I’ve dedicated a lot of time, energy, and love not only to the Fraternity, but especially to my chapter, the Zeta Epsilon Chapter at Eastern Michigan University.

Some years ago the chapter took a turn that I just wasn’t okay with. I couldn’t sit back and watch it happen, so I stepped in and took on the role of Grad Advisor. Honestly, I didn’t know exactly what to expect… but I knew I had to do something. So I did the only thing I know how to do…I got to work.

My goal was simple: bring the chapter back to life and protect the legacy that ZE has built on EMU’s campus. There were things people weren’t ok with me doing but I went against the grain and did what was best for the chapter at that time. In the two years since stepping into this role, we’ve brought in four lines and six active, financial members into the Fraternity. That doesn’t happen without dedication.

I truly want to shout out these young brothers who have put in the time, effort, and commitment to bring this chapter back to the standard we all know it’s been holding for 53 years. I know they probably get sick and tired of me and all my requests, but I always tell them it’s for the greater good…and they’ve continued to rise to the challenge.

We still have work to do, but I can honestly say I’m proud of this chapter.

Two years ago I said:
“You better get with us now… because ZE about to come up.”

Well… right now we taking off like a rocket. And as I like to say “WE NOT DONNNNNNEEEEEE….”
