Happy World Photography Day 🎞️

There’s something magical about pulling someone off the dance floor mid-song, standing them against a backdrop, and saying “just be you for a second.” No fairy lights, no distractions, just a face. And that’s usually when people give you the best of themselves.

These aren’t just highlights from the wedding. They’re the friends who’d been dancing since 6pm, the groomsman still catching his breath, the guest who came alone and left with new friends. Not the big moments, the ones in-between. And those are always my favorite to shoot.

That’s the gift of this job: not just capturing what things looked like, but who was there and how it felt to be seen. A camera doesn’t just take a picture, it hands someone back a memory they didn’t know they’d want.

Here’s to the guests who make the party. 🤍

Last four slides are of my favorite couple who prioritized their guests. @mayowaibitola @mfonabasi.ibitola

Abuja Residents Raise Alarm As Heavy Rainfall Leaves Roads Flooded, Movement Disrupted

Residents of Abuja have expressed concern as heavy rainfall leaves several areas flooded, with rising water levels affecting movement and daily activities.

Videos from affected areas show flooded roads and communities surrounded by water, as residents call for urgent action to address drainage challenges and prevent recurring flooding.

Many residents blamed poor drainage systems and indiscriminate waste disposal, urging authorities to improve flood control measures as the rainy season continues.

Nigeria Senate Calls for Suspension of Rehabilitation Programme for Former Boko Haram Members

The Senate of Nigeria has called for the suspension of the rehabilitation and reintegration programme for former Boko Haram members into society.

The lawmakers expressed concerns that rehabilitating former insurgents while victims of terrorism continue to suffer could undermine justice and public confidence.

The development has renewed debate over the balance between counter-terrorism strategies, accountability, and support for communities affected by insurgency.
