🌟 Introducing our May academic shoutout: Emily Gupta! She’s a Sophomore Psychology and Studio Arts student in Delta Gamma and currently serves as a Research study Assistant in a psychology research study group at LMU.

“This is my third semester as a research assistant in a psychology research study group at LMU, where I study consciousness and cognition. I’ve had the opportunity to design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and collaborate with both faculty and peers. This included a semester working alongside my DG sister, Maddie, which made the experience even more meaningful. This May, I’ll be presenting my research at the Western Psychological Association conference, focusing on human-AI interaction and how people internalize positive meaning in semantic categorization. I hope to live out the DG motto by pursuing a future career as a psychologist and I’m so grateful that LMU has given me this opportunity!”

We’re proud of our sister Emily and recognize all she is achieving!! 🎉

14 years ago, I picked up a pair of pom-poms… not knowing they’d help shape the woman I am today.

Cheer was never just a sport—it was my heartbeat, my safe place, my home. It gave me my voice, my strength, and sisters for life. Through every early morning, every hard practice, every win and loss—we built something unbreakable.

To my coaches, thank you for believing in me and pushing me beyond limits I didn’t know I had. And to LMU, thank you for trusting me with a dream that once felt out of reach. Being able to cheer in college meant everything—especially as an African-American woman. I hope some little girl watched and realized she can do it too.

Cheer built me, challenged me, and loved me back. So this isn’t goodbye—it’s thank you. For every 8-count, every chant, every bruise, every bow, every memory.
Now it’s time to untie the laces, place the bows down, and take my final bow.

I may be hanging up my cheer shoes… but this love, this passion, this legacy—it stays with me forever.

— Signing off, Captain Faith 🫂🎀
