“As Seen in America” The last painting I made for my show: “Over The Years” which opened last night @ in Paris. -This is the one piece from the show that ties it together.

My work documents America and the changes within the place I’m from and where I see the change most clearly. This piece pays homage to the shift and location generally.

🇫🇷

Last night I had the opportunity to contribute an original painting to @complex Minions & Monsters exhibition at Milk Studios in Los Angeles, curated by My good friend Casey Zoltan of @knowngallery

The exhibition brought together an incredible group of artists to reimagine the world of the @minions ahead of the film’s release, with artwork benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation and other charitable organizations.

This reel is a quick recap of the process behind my piece, along with a few moments from opening night.

Thank you to Complex, Illumination, Casey, Known Gallery, and everyone involved for the invitation.

Always grateful for opportunities to step outside my usual practice, collaborate with talented people, and make work that supports a great cause.

I almost didn’t post this. These are the perspectives that don’t usually get shared.

Grateful to share this one.

Horace Mann Middle School—wall to court.
Honored to work with Branded Arts, Horace Mann, and the Skyhook Foundation. It’s all for the Kids.

Public art like this is still one of my favorite things to do—especially in unique spaces like this one.

I truly appreciate everyone involved. 🎥 @jamm_93

From empty blacktop to this.

Wrapped a mural + full court at Horace Mann UCLA Community School as part of a festival with @brandedarts

Originally brought in to transform the gym exterior—wall and court.
Started building the mural with my usual language—layered signage, collage, pulling in the school’s name and past + present mascots to give it something the students could connect to, especially during their centennial year.

Then the project opened up.

We got word the @skyhookfoundation wanted to get involved and the court could be dedicated to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. @kareemabduljabbar_33

Easy decision—whatever makes the most impact for the kids.

We integrated the foundation at center court, Kareem came through, shared words with the students, donated jerseys, and helped open the space. -It was pretty incredible.

For the court itself, I went the opposite direction of the wall—
no narrative, no subject. Just color, pattern, movement.
Something open. Something fun to play on.

Full circle moment seeing the kids step onto it and immediately make it theirs.

Grateful to everyone who helped bring this to life. Thank you to Branded Arts, Horace Mann Middle school, Skyhook Foundation for the trust…

Big Thanks to the team:

From empty blacktop → something the community can live with.

Currently working on my first basketball court mural at Horace Mann UCLA Community School. For the court, I leaned into bold color and pattern—creating something vibrant, energetic, and purely fun to play on.

It’s definitely been a team effort. Big Big thanks to @brandedarts @josheverhorn @594evah and @_emjay_ for bringing this thing to life with me…. -Also Had some of the kids jump in on this too… which made it even better.

Still in progress. Come see how it all comes together on Friday at the grand reception + art show:
April 10, 3:30–6pm
7001 S St Andrews Pl

Appreciate @brandedarts + the school for the trust 🙏

“Lost in Translation” -This painting brings together fragments from multiple works—sections cropped, enlarged, simplified, and reworked alongside areas that remain more detailed and complex. Some passages are pushed toward bolder clarity, while others retain visual density, creating tension between legibility and disruption. New elements are inserted throughout, turning the composition into a melting pot of ideas drawn from across the larger body of work.

Like much of the show, the painting operates modularly, built from reused and recontextualized structures that appear elsewhere in different forms. Rendered in a muted brown scale, it reflects my interest in restraint and atmosphere over contrast. The title Lost in Translation speaks both to the process of translating multiple ideas into a single image and to the quiet disorientation of navigating unfamiliar systems—a subtle nod to the film of the same name and its portrayal of cultural distance while working abroad.

Now showing @megumiogitagallery
