I did a silly race this weekend.

I’m pretty proud of how my body pulled together this performance and how it’s pulling up after. I’m most proud of the village I have around me to have this ability.

I registered for this race in April 2024. It’s been a road to get my toes on this start line. To anybody and everybody who played a part in this process- from riding together, running together, riding beside me while I ran, canoeing beside me while I swam, eating together, asking about training with genuine curiosity and listening to me talk about bikes, carbs, running shoes, and my turbulent emotional state (especially during taper week)… Thank YOU.

This race celebrated home- both in the geographical sense and what home feels like.

I ran into the water on Sunday morning at a beach I’ve been swimming at since before I can remember. I road my bike on roads and parkways I’ve been cruising down since I learned to ride a bike. I ran down a canal I commute on and train on and around almost every day.

The people made me feel at home. Seeing and feeling the love of friends and family from every corner of my life on course…

My village. I love you.

First triathlon.
First marathon.
First Ironman.

I’m never doing that again.

Ottawa, you set the bar high.

From first stride to last song, this is what the Gravel Setlist is all about.

Good people, good miles, and a whole lot of energy.

On to the next.
