It was a quick trip to Tuscaloosa to see AnniBug. We had chairs to deliver *thank you Lacy* and lights to hang on the porches. It may have been 100 degrees and every mosquito in T-town was at her house - but we got it done. Built some tables too! It was so great to see Anni and to see her smile! Her roomies are the sweetest and I know they will all have a great year! 🥰 Dinner @chucksfish with Asa, Anni and EvaClaire was a bonus! So many answered prayers in these pictures. While we are all still trying to navigate this chapter - we praise God for our valleys and trials and victories. Anni continues to write her story and we are just blessed to be a part of it. We have all realized “the after cancer journey” is a road in and of itself. I pray equally for those on this side of cancer/leukemia as I do for those just at the beginning. Cancer is a thief! But it did not and will not define her. Some days are harder than others - but they are days God gave us and we will love every single one. We will continue to have faith and will try everyday to put action behind our prayers #21daysofprayer. I often cry writing these updates - but today I’m smiling as we head down 20. She did it!! Last day! We are here! From Sept 4th to April 24th … oh what a road it has been. From Tuscaloosa to Augusta to Athens to Tuscaloosa!! This is it!! It seems crazy to be excited to get chemo … but we are over the moon 🌙!! Everyone here at Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer center greeted Anni with a big smile this morning - they are as excited for her as we are!! In fact, our house woke up early this morning and you could feel the excitement and energy in the air. It was filled with smiles and giddy chatter!! And I loved it!! We got to Tuscaloosa yesterday and Chris was able to go to treatment with Anni yesterday while I got the house ready. Graycie and EvaClaire and Sidney came into town also. I am forever grateful to Julia and Asa for helping me surprise Anni with just a few “of her closest friends”! And surprise her we did!! You can see the pure joy and surprise on her face … it was priceless!! Thank you to Julia and Asa for all the prep, Emily and Timberlie for the signs, Laura Ashley for the ballon arch, and Madi Cakes for the cupcakes. We had the best time celebrating our best girl!! Anni and I are here at her last treatment now and the closer it gets to the end the more excitement we are feeling. We are just waiting for that “ beep beep”! For so many months that was the most annoying sound ever … but today … it will be celebrated!! We are going to celebrate Anni’s grit, her grace, her determination, her friends, her medical support, our community of support, her resilience, her independence, her willingness to do so much so far away from home, her Faith , but most importantly… her HEALTH! What a wonderful day the Lord has made!! It seems like I should be mad at cancer for taking so much from our daughter, but I just don’t have that in my heart today. I am filled with happiness, joy, love, excitement, and the same overwhelming peace that I prayed for and foughtfor since the end of August! I am so beyond thankful for everyone who has posted, loved, called, wore their Anni’s Army shirts, supported us in so many different ways, and most importantly - for all of the prayers that were prayed and answered for our Anni! We love you all! God is so Good!

A good time was had by all! Annual pumpkin carving and trick or treating in the culdesac was a hit, again! The weather was great, trick or treaters were terrific, and spending time with family and friends was the best! Anni even got to dress up for Halloween - her energy level tanked after that - but we are so thankful for her spurts of energy. (Or maybe she just wills herself to go…?) We didn’t get to see the boys on Halloween but we got to see pictures - both nailed their costumes! Hoping to see both boys this weekend!! It’s been too long. Thank you to Jefferson Elem and Academy for honoring Anni in small ways on Kory’s day!! The t-shirts and orange and stickers were all so cute. We all miss Kory so much. I remember sending my kids in orange on “Do it for Kory” day when they were that age. For these kiddos to honor Anni too was so unbelievably sweet and heartwarming! I have to admit that their shirts brought tears to our eyes. Anni was awe-struck to say the least! We have some exciting news coming Friday … small victories will be celebrated! Always grateful! And a huge shout out to the chemo infusion nurses at UCBC - they are truly angels!!!
