Meet Fatima Aden, your Undergraduate Student Government Presidential Candidate.

Fatima is a junior pursuing a double major in Political Science and Economics. She is the current Speaker of the Forum in USG, making her the third-highest-ranked member of the organization.

Outside of USG, Fatima is an Outreach Coordinator for Somalis in Business and Tech, and also is a co-founder for Black Students in Policy and Law.

She has a range of internships and work experience, with highlights including an internship with Minnesota State Senator Zaynab Mohamed and an on-campus job as a Peer Coach.

Not shown here is her steadfast commitment to advocacy both on and off campus. She has testified both at the MN Senate's Higher Education Committee on North Star Promise restrictions and the Minneapolis City Council on community engagement practices. Her passions surround economic development through the lens of affordability and effective social program reform.

Like what Fatima has to offer? Vote for her to be your next Student Body President from February 23rd to February 27th. Any registered UMN student may vote!

🏛️ Last month, a delegation from USG traveled to Washington, D.C. for the @abts.10 Big Ten on the Hill conference.

The three main pillars of advocacy determined across all Big Ten schools from the @abts.10 conference in the fall were

1️⃣ Basic Student Needs
2️⃣ Campus Safety
3️⃣ Mental & General Health

🌟 The USG delegation met with the offices of Senators Klobuchar and Smith, Congresswoman Omar, Representatives McCollum, Finstad, Emmer, and Morrison to advocate for protecting financial aid, expanding SNAP benefits, improving mental health care access, and strengthening campus safety.

✨ Thank you to our amazing delegation and the other Big 10 schools for joining together to advocate for students at the Capitol!
