@sandiegofc returns home to Snapdragon Stadium on Wednesday night desperate to break out of a six-match winless skid as they host Western Conference foe @houstondynamo .

The hosts enter Wednesday night sitting 12th in the Western Conference with 32 points, seeking answers after a heavy 4-1 defeat in New York. Head coach and squad will lean heavily on leading scorer Marcus Ingvartsen, who has delivered 12 goals this season, alongside attack partner Anders Dreyer.

Mexico’s difficult start under new head coach Rafael Márquez continued Tuesday night at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, where El Tri fell 2-0 to Chile in another performance that raised more questions than answers about the direction of the national team. Márquez sent out a side with a mix of established names and players still trying to cement their place in the setup, including Érik Lira, Obed Vargas and Álvaro Fidalgo in midfield, with Roberto Alvarado, Armando González and Germán Berterame tasked with providing the attacking threat.

Chile made Mexico pay after halftime, and the match quickly became another example of how fragile El Tri has looked once its original game plan begins to break down. Maximiliano Gutiérrez opened the scoring in the 54th minute before Vicente Pizarro doubled Chile’s advantage in the 65th, leaving Mexico chasing a game it never truly looked capable of turning around. Márquez attempted to change the dynamic with substitutions, but the response never developed into the sustained wave of pressure Mexico needed.

The shirt still carries the history, the supporters and the demand to win every time Mexico steps onto the field. Right now, that weight feels heavier than ever, and the next phase of Márquez’s tenure will depend on whether these players can begin carrying it together instead of allowing it to define every difficult night.

Another chapter of the @usmnt - @miseleccionmx rivalry was written Saturday night inside State Farm Stadium, and this time the night belonged entirely to the Americans. In front of 64,932 supporters in Glendale, the U.S. Men’s National Team delivered one of its strongest performances against its longtime rival, defeating Mexico 3-0 in the 80th meeting between the two nations. Mexico controlled portions of possession early and attempted to establish itself before the United States settled into the match, but @pochettino ’s young side gradually began finding spaces and applying pressure higher up the field.

In the 62nd minute, 17-year-old @cavan.sull pressured Rangel as Mexico attempted to build from the back. Rangel’s pass went directly into Sullivan’s path, and with the goalkeeper stranded away from his line, the Philadelphia Union midfielder calmly lifted a left-footed effort from roughly 30 yards into the vacant goal. Sullivan’s first international goal doubled the United States’ advantage and made him the youngest goalscorer in USMNT history at 17 years and five days old.

Mexico’s difficult night became even harder five minutes later when Mateo Chávez was shown a red card for violent conduct, reducing El Tri to 10 men for the remainder of the match. From there, the Americans continued pushing rather than simply protecting the lead, playing with the confidence of a team that understood it had an opportunity to turn a victory over its biggest rival into a statement.

As usual, we’ve picked out our favourite shots that we saw over the last week. Champions League drama. International passion. WSL moments. These capture it all.

An Army veteran with a passion for creating art — @_framessss is changing photography as we know it.

If you know Carlos - or, more famously, FRAMES, you’ve probably seen him encourage his fellow creatives to
“CREATE. FKN. ART.” These inspirational words from Carlos are reflected through his photography - specifically his slow shutter images.

Carlos’ interest in photography spiked in
2012; he started shooting landscapes and street photography under the name Hashtag. While he enjoyed his photography, boredom would take over, leading him to frequently sell his cameras before eventually buying another one and repeating the process.

Carlos enlisted in the United States Army serving as a Canon Crew Member at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, with 2-32 FAR. During this time Carlos’ photography took a backseat so he could focus on his service. After getting out, Carlos was reintroduced to photography through his good friend Sweaty and started doing vehicle photography

Eventually, Carlos decided he wanted to try sports photography. The first game he photographed was a home game for the NWSL team, San Diego Wave. Carlos was hooked immediately. The unpredictability, emotion, and the challenges that sports photography presents meant he was done selling his cameras.

With his photography, Carlos is always chasing the next opportunity and trying to improve every time he picks up a camera. He wants to see how far he can build FRAMES, so he can look back knowing he built a representation of himself, and the way he sees sports.

No matter how busy Carlos is outside of photography, the feeling he has on the sideline encourages him to keep chasing his dreams. It doesn’t feel like another responsibility or burden, it feels like it’s where Carlos is meant to be, so he makes sure to find time for it.

Carlos’ vision remains unmatched in the sports photography world. His influence over what has only been a year has been tremendous, and his work continues to inspire numerous creatives all across the world. His passion to create art through his photography takes sports photography back to it’s roots and
