DIASPORA! X VOCAL WORKSHOP WITH AUGUST🎤🎶

Over ten days in May, RISE’s team of aspiring journalists were in Bristol to explore DIASPORA! 2026 - a festival produced by @diverseartistsnetwork

Inside the walls of the @harbourbristol our journalist @_g.force from part in the ‘Create Music with Your Voice’ Workshop🎨

Hosted by singer, songwriter, presenter and everything musically in between🎶 @augustofficialmusic brought her talents to the forefront of Totterdown & discussed the importance of bringing together a range of voices in choirs and musical education🎷🎹

It was beyond a pleasure to learn August, her skill set in curating foundational contributions to @basschoir stand as such a poingnant moment for the bass driven practice🎸

The Diverse Artists Network creates opportunities for marginalised artists, helping to ensure they’re seen, heard and paid. We worked with them on DIASPORA!
2024 and 2026, creating youth-led content that explored the festival’s programme🎪

DIASPORA! BTS X MORNING RAGAS AT THE DESI DAY WORKSHOP🪇💫

Over ten days in May, RISE’s team of aspiring journalists were in Bristol to explore DIASPORA! 2026 - a festival produced by @diverseartistsnetwork

On the Saturday of the DIASPORA! festival, our very own @_g.force had the pleasure of chatting with workshop leaders @peteyelding & @danny_rhythmic from the Desi Day workshop🧡🪇

They eloquently discuss how their instruments provide them with connections to their Indian & Romani heritage through classical music, playing the tabla & the sitar🪘

This interview is a wonderful story of honouring the diaspora, the community & the ancestral links to music🎶

🎉DIASPORA! 2026🎉

This May, we brought together a new super-talented crew of 14 to document the incredible #diasporafestival 💫

Alongside some of RISE's OGs, they produced & hosted radio, interviewed artists, producers and facilitators and captured the magic of @diverseartistsnetwork's DIASPORA!

These are the faces of people under-represented in media, and we’re here to challenge that 🗣️

Interviews dropping soon with @durdurband @marcus.fagon.storyteller @jose.barco @augustofficialmusic and more - filmed across some of Bristol's most iconic spaces including @bristoltrinity @thepicklefactory_easton and @bristolferry 🎥

Massive love and thanks always to @diverseartistsnetwork and in particular @jessolivianeill 🥰

Dear Keir Starmer, your job starts now!✊🏾⭐️✊🏻⭐️✊🏽

On July the 4th 2024, a general election was held in the UK. As the votes came trickling in over night, the Labour Party won a landslide victory making Keir Starmer the new British Prime Minister.

We know that political action does not only exist in Westminster, it stretches across communities, collectives and underground spaces🪐🌟 Let’s make our voices heard beyond voting, applying pressure for genuine change and rising for collective liberation for the many not the few🌈✊🏾🌟💥

TODAY IS ELECTION DAY🗳️🗓️

Here at RISE we have been running our ‘RISE to Action’ General election campaign 2024. Today is the day that it all matters. We want youth voice to be heard in politics at this election and we want to demand change from the moment the votes are in🗳️

⭐️ Don’t forget your photo ID. Acceptable forms of ID include:

- Passport
- Driving License
- A Blue Badge
- Disabled Person’s Bus Pass
- Citizens Card
- Voter Authority Certificate

⭐️All of these forms of ID will still be accepted even if they are out of date!🗓️

⭐️If you have changed your name and do not have an updated form of ID with a new name, you will need to bring a document with you that proves you’ve changed your name. For example a both certificate📄

GET OUT THERE AND MAKE YOUR VOTE MATTER🗳️
