Two Suits

When Cash was in 11th grade, he had a run of dances, proms, & events that required him to be dressed up. Rather than racking up rental fees, we took him & bought a very nice suit, tailored to fit. We bought him a white dress shirt & black studded dress loafers (his pick). 🫶🏼

We often joked that Cash attended so many events in this suit that the cost per wear was down to almost nothing.

Each time he wore it to a dance, he painstakingly coordinated his tie & pocket square to his date’s dress. He also thoughtfully considered the flowers he would give her, often with a vision for wrapping them in brown paper, which he had me help him do. He always wanted everything to be perfect. He opened car doors, always walked on the outside of sidewalks, & every other gentlemanly act to show respect. That was Cash all the time, not just for dances. He cared for everyone around him, & innately knew how to take care of them.

During his senior year, he started working out a lot, & soon, the suit no longer fit. He started wearing one of Jeff’s suits, a beautiful navy blue Italian wool. Ever grateful & always thoughtful, he still matched his tie & pocket square to his date, & had new brown loafers for his new look.

Both of these suits were worn at Cash’s funeral. His dad, @micahgaudio, wore the black suit. And my baby wore the blue one. 💔 Cash was cremated in that navy blue suit, the last thing I saw the earthly vessel of my precious boy wearing.

If you had the honor of going to a dance with him in one of those suits, I pray you will treasure the memories of those nights, always remember the level of care and respect you were shown, & never settle for less than that in the future.

Cash, I’m endlessly proud of the man you had become, & how much you loved & respected others. This world needs more of that. My heart is forever shattered that we’ve all been robbed of your presence. Tu me manques. You are missing from me. You are my sunshine. ☀️ My love for you defies earthly limits, & transcends the veil between here & Heaven. Please share your suit pics of Cash.
