Welcome to the Henry R. Hamilton House, an absolute treasure of Prairie School architecture, nestled in the gorgeous Frank Lloyd Wright Historic District and designed in 1914 by the esteemed Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice, John S. Van Bergen. This unique residence offers possibilities with its 3 levels of living space, plus a large unfinished basement and an artist’s studio coach house, which would make a perfect accessory dwelling unit or home office space. Historic home aficionados will appreciate prairie style details, including the abundance of beautiful leaded-glass windows and the impressive brick fireplace. The first level features a great layout for entertaining with the living room, dining room, and family room all flowing together seamlessly. Powder room on your way up to the second floor, where you’ll find 3 bedrooms, a tandem room, and a full bathroom. The third story consists of a primary en suite with a grand pyramid style skylight (designed by Tallmadge + Watson). Outside, discover a sprawling deck and tranquil, low maintenance Japanese garden-inspired landscaping. This historic home has been updated with all new kitchen and bathrooms, central air, refinished hardwood floors, along with new foundation, drain tile and sump pump.

In April, DWR ran the idea by @canyoncoffee of opening a pop-up café at their Chicago store in West Loop for Design Days, starting June 8. While a little crazy, it was just enough time to conceivably pull it off — roughly 5 weeks. What struck me the most in pulling this off, and honestly what made it so fun, was the team we assembled and how solid every single person executed. It was a rise-to-the-occasion moment for everyone involved, and everyone delivered. Across the Canyon team, DWR, and folks on the ground in Chicago who really brought it all together — @coraevanlambert @_gallagher_ @maxdavis3 @andrewsilaghi the @espressoservices team — I’m really proud of all the hands that touched this project and brought it to life, and grateful to have had an excuse to meet and work with everyone. And finally, I’m proud of all the Canyon team who weren’t on this project yet have continued to hold it down in the midst of opening Brooklyn and now this. To keep everything humming as a small team while half the leadership is swept up in opening cafes (and all that goes with that) is no small feat. // Open for Design Days, the cafe opens to the public Thursday June 9th. Red Bull Sound Select 30 Days in Chicago, Nov 2017. 30 events in 30 days. Shit was wild. Music programming & Art direction were stellar & ahead of their time. We all put in some serious work for the city & the world w/ this one. Best fan engagement surprises in the game. Had fun & learned a lot executive producing & programming it. Fun jog down memory lane.

What’s special about @visitor.fyi is not just their minimal look, at first glance, you may be under the impression that it’s just a sample, not the final product, which is a beautiful way to convey the sentiment of being at a brewery, and getting to sample a fresh new batch, pairing perfectly with its name visitor. 🎾🍻 “Hang without the sacrifice” the brand preaches, and the word hang is not used lightly, everything about their look and even how their store is curated, beyond merch, you find items that give a sense of perusing through a cool neighborhood store, from vintage print magazines to ceramic cups, there’s coherence of “vibes” —regardless of the items, it gives a sense of familiarity, and what if not, is the main goal of these NA beers in the first place, to provide belonging, as opposed to alienating one for choosing to opt out of traditional beer. Home, a wonderful juxtaposition to Visitor. ✨🍻
