Celebrating 25 years of dance, music, family, friendship, and collaboration. 🖤

Since 2001, @sidrabelldancenewyork has been daring, restless, and wildly alive. This reel is a love letter to a quarter century of bodies in motion, set to "Sidra's Dream," composed in 1980 by Dennis Bell, my father, and recorded at Restoration Studios in Brooklyn. Twenty-five years later, his dream is still moving us. ✨

Thank you to every artist who has shared the stage, the studio, and the vision. Here's to the next 25. 🎉

——
When was the moment community stopped being a place you enter and became something you are responsible for? And what are we willing to do to keep a community alive? Is it something we discover or continually choose?

I will remain available to you.
I will carry something for you.
I will allow you to change me and help make room for the person you are becoming.

Enormous gratitude to 1Hood Media for their invitation to be a 2026 Artivist. In collaboration with AJ Libert and the 1Hood Media Team, The Hook: A Movement and Sound Bath experience brought us together to ponder on what it means to seek out and participate in community. Similar to my upbringing over many plates of fried fish, chicken wings, and fruit punch, we Gathered in the sweet tension of belonging and responsibility while celebrating the lineages that have defined our existence and speculated on contributing to utopian futures.
