Working with businesses to help create strategic video storytelling

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Working with an agency vs. straight with a client changes everything. Grant Watson of 99 Natives puts it simply: with an agency, you’re the scalpel — the tool carrying out someone else’s vision. Bigger teams, deeper production, but less of the creative call is yours. Neither is wrong. You just have to know which role you’re stepping into.

Don’t just deliver what’s requested. Deliver what’s needed.

One of my favorite takeaways from my conversation with Grant Watson of 99 Natives: the best creatives don’t just fulfill requests—they solve problems.

A client may ask for one video, but what they really need could be social clips, a website edit, an email version, and more. Great creative partners help clients see what’s possible and build a solution that delivers lasting value.

Getting 1% better is always attainable—and over time, those small improvements become real growth.

Grant Watson already leads an incredible company, 99 Natives, whose work is among the very best in Birmingham’s creative community. But what stands out most is that he never stops learning. Despite his success, he continues to seek out other creatives, ask questions, and sharpen his craft. That’s the mindset that keeps great people getting even better.

Every filmmaker starts somewhere. Grant Watson (owner of Ninety-Nine Natives) started with weddings. Where did you start?

Thank you so much to everyone that came out to this year’s Creating Creators Meetup (in spite of the weather). It was so great seeing so many creatives connecting and I can’t wait to see all that comes from these new connections.

Special thank you to @amfirstcu @riverlightstudios @colepeveymusic @austinwhereabouts @sallumsphotography @siluriabrewing & @jpope702 for making this even happen.

Let’s do it again.

“There is only so much still photography tells about a project. We wanted to showcase the motion and commotion that is in our daily lives here at Blackstone. Construction is about the end result but it is also about sequence, flow, collaboration, & order. Big thanks to Grant Watson at 99Natives for helping us capture our process.” - John Rutherford, President / Blackstone Construction

We decided to take time and ask people on the streets some very important termite questions! If you own a home, you need to know this information. Comment below what other topics or questions we should ask in our next segment!

Behind the Scenes: Over the years we’ve been blessed to work in lots of different environments with a lot of amazing people. We wanted to share a little bit about what it looks like behind the camera.

We had an awesome time working with @emeals to capture some branded content for them. We loved getting to mix photo and video together on this shoot and certainly look forward to more shoots like it!

A special thanks to @abbybowlin and @akatpowell for being willing and so gracious to let us follow them around for a day!
