And just like that my basketball career is over…
if you told me in high school I was gonna play in college I would’ve never believed you. I had one of the worst high school careers in basketball. The first thing my coach in high school ever told me is I’m “Not good enough for high school basketball” and that “there’s better players. Even my senior night he started a junior over me while having five seniors I was the only one not to start. Coach Carol and Coach Hunter were the ones that taught me to love this sport. High school took that away from me and I never thought I’d have it back. Coach Alberici has changed that completely for me. I found my love for the sport again and I never wanted it to end. I even changed my major to come back another year because he made me feel like I was important part of the team. He is someone that has changed my life for the better and I’m never going to forget this. Coach Alberici hugged me after the last game while I was in tears and said “What am I going to do without you next year” I haven’t had a coach appreciate me sense I was in 6th grade ccyo. I spent three years playing for him our first season was canceled because we didn’t have enough girls and I’m honestly glad. It gave me the chance to play one last time with my little sister. Not only that but the team received a new assistant coach. Coach Wilmott taught me to be resilient even when I feel like everything I’m doing is wrong. Then finally Erica thank you for always having my back and making sure my stats are right even though I’m pretty sure I had two more blocks than you put down lol. This is something I’ll never forget. Thank you for all the coaches that cared and made my life better. And my team for giving me a chance even when I didn’t feel good enough to have one.
