THANK YOU TO THE CANDIDATES WHO PUT PUBLIC SAFETY FIRST.

Throughout this municipal election campaign, the Halton Hills Professional Fire Fighters Association has been committed to one thing: advocating for the safety of our members and the community we proudly serve.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to the candidates who took the time to meet with our executive, listen to our concerns, and engage in meaningful conversations about the future of fire and emergency services in Halton Hills.

We especially recognize those who have made a conscious decision to support the messages of our Association, acknowledge the findings and recommendations of Halton Hills’ Fire Master Plan, and speak publicly and through social media about the importance of investing in public safety.

These conversations matter. Listening matters. And taking a stand for the safety of our growing community matters.

As Halton Hills continues to grow, the need for appropriate staffing, equipment, training, and resources will only become more important. The Fire Master Plan provides a roadmap. Turning its recommendations into action is the next step.

Our message has never been about politics or placing blame. It’s about moving forward, working together, and ensuring our fire service has the resources needed to protect our community — today and into the future.

To every candidate who made time to listen, ask questions, engage respectfully, and support the importance of public safety, thank you. Your willingness to have these conversations is appreciated.

The election may be coming to a close, but the work of advocating for public safety continues.

🚒 A safer Halton Hills is a shared responsibility. #HHPFFA #actonontario #georgetownontario

THE PLAN WAS CLEAR. THE NEED HASN’T DISAPPEARED.

In 2014, Halton Hills’ Fire Master Plan identified key staffing positions recommended for implementation between 2020 and 2025.

These weren’t just positions on paper. They were investments in fireground leadership, public education, prevention, and firefighter training — all important components of an effective, modern fire service.

Where do things stand today?

🚨PLATOON SUPERVISORS (Chiefs)
The 2014 plan recommended Platoon Supervisors. The 2026 Fire Master Plan identifies Platoon Chiefs as a recommended staffing addition.

🚨PUBLIC EDUCATION & PREVENTION OFFICERS
The 2014 plan identified these positions as a priority. The current staffing plan provides for two positions to be hired in 2027. Bringing our staffing to 4.

🚨TRAINING OFFICERS
Halton Hills currently has two training staff in place. The 2026 plan calls for one additional training position to support the department’s training needs.

The question isn’t whether planning matters. It’s whether we’re acting on it in a timely manner.

Fire Master Plans are designed to help municipalities prepare for growth, manage risk, and ensure fire services have the resources needed to protect their communities.

As Halton Hills continues to grow, we believe the recommendations in these plans deserve meaningful action, clear timelines, and continued accountability.

Our focus remains on advocating for the people, resources, training, and leadership required to protect our members and the community we proudly serve.

Public safety deserves a plan — and a commitment to follow through. #HHPFFA #actonontario #georgetownontario

🍁 It’s #SmallBusinessWeek, and we’re celebrating the local businesses that make Halton Hills such a vibrant place to live, shop, explore, and visit!

In partnership with @visithaltonhills, @_haltonhills, and @heartofontario, we’re shining a spotlight on four incredible small businesses to show you how to Move, Explore, Taste, and Sip local this week!

🌾 @farmgirlfitness.ca
Not your typical gym experience! It's all about the joy of movement, connecting with nature and creating community. There are no scales, no mirrors and it's all about fun and fresh air on the farm!

🍎 @fallbrookfarmsorchard
A fun experience for the whole family. There are pumpkins and you can go apple picking, but there are also unique activities for kids I haven't seen anywhere else, and even an amazing lookout point atop an old firetruck.

🍦 @whimsystreettreats
An ice cream shop in downtown Georgetown. They have an extensive menu of scooped ice cream, soft serve, sundaes, donuts, and unique concoctions, including a large vegan menu, too.

☕ @blackcreekcoffee
Roasted in Acton and served at their cafe in Georgetown. Try a pour over coffee, which is so good that you don't need to add sugar or milk, or one of their seasonal lattes. They also donate a percentage of profits to dog rescue charities.

🎥 Watch our feature video and meet the faces behind these amazing businesses. The link is in our bio!

ONE WEEK TODAY. HALTON HILLS, ARE WE READY FOR WHAT’S NEXT?

One week from today, residents will head to the polls for a municipal election that will help shape the future of our community for years to come.

Halton Hills is growing. New neighbourhoods, more residents, and increased demands on emergency services are on the horizon. But an important question remains:

Are we ready for that growth?

When it comes to fire protection, the numbers tell a story that deserves attention.

🚨Let’s look back.

In 2006, a 1.2% Fire Service Levy was implemented to fund the incremental hiring of four full-time firefighters each year. This levy eventually was discontinued. Recently a new levy of 0.9% was introduced.

In 2014, the Fire Service Master Plan, “Staying the Course: Our Road to the Future,” continued to outline a path forward for our community’s fire service.

That plan projected 84 full-time staff by 2023.

🚨Now look at where we are today.

It’s 2026, and Halton Hills has 61 full-time firefighters (56) and staff (5) — 23 fewer than the 84 projected for 2023.

The current Fire Service Master Plan identifies a staffing shortfall of approximately 20.5 positions against its recommended complement.

Two plans. Two staffing gaps. One question: Will we follow through?

A Fire Service Master Plan is more than a document. It is a roadmap intended to guide decisions, investments, staffing, and the level of service our growing community needs.

So why are we advocating for the latest plan to be implemented rather than allowing its recommendations to sit on a shelf?

Because you cannot adequately prepare for tomorrow if you are still working to meet the needs of today.

As the October 26 municipal election approaches, we encourage residents to learn about the Fire Service Master Plan, ask candidates where they stand on its recommendations, and consider how decisions made today will affect public safety tomorrow. These questions must continue after the election.

Halton Hills is growing. This plan must translate into action.

One week. One important election. A future worth planning for. #HHPFFA #actonontario #georgetownontario

This has never been about politics. It has always been about public safety.

The information we have shared is grounded in the Town of Halton Hills’ completed Fire Master Plan, NFPA 1710, our candidate survey, and our commitment to in-person meetings with candidates. We believe the public deserves to understand the facts, the recommendations, and the importance of the decisions being made about fire protection in our community, by the people we will be electing.

Our integrity has been questioned. Our motivations have been challenged. Our alignment with individuals has been scrutinized.

But our purpose remains unchanged.

As a labour union, we have a responsibility to advocate for our members and to speak up when decisions affect the safety of the people we serve.

We will continue to answer every call with unwavering commitment. We will continue to work professionally with whoever is elected. And we will continue to advocate for the resources our members need to provide the best possible protection to our community.

Our advocacy will not stop because an election ends, a council changes, or a collective agreement is negotiated.

This is bigger than politics. Bigger than personalities. Bigger than any one election.

It is about you, your family, your neighbourhood, and the firefighters who respond when you need them most.

Facts over assumptions. Public safety over politics. Accountability over silence.

We will continue to show up. We will continue to speak up. We will continue to advocate. #HHPFFA #actonontario #georgetownontario

Just over a week until election day. Here’s everything the Halton Hills Professional Fire Fighters Association needs you to remember before you vote.

1. Staffing levels determine how fast help arrives.
The number of firefighters available in your community is a life-safety decision — not a budget convenience. Know where your candidates stand.

2. Response time standards exist for a reason.
The NFPA 4-minute standard isn’t arbitrary. Fire doubles in size every minute. Brain injury from smoke inhalation begins in three. Every candidate for council should know this number cold.

3. Fair contracts mean a stable fire service.
When municipalities stall at the bargaining table. Your community pays the price.

4. Mental health support is not optional.
Firefighters carry significant psychological weight on behalf of this community. The programs and benefits that help them carry it safely need to be funded — not deferred when budgets get tight.

5. Four years is a long time.
The council elected on October 26 will make decisions affecting your fire service until 2030. Choose people who understand the weight of that responsibility.

🗳️ Advanced online voting: open now through October 24 at vote2026.haltonhills.ca
🗳️ Vote in person: October 26 #HHPFFA #actonontario #georgetownontario

A cup of tea, honest questions & a conversation about the community we call home. 💜

As a longtime Georgetown resident, entrepreneur and advocate for change, I have tremendous respect for anyone willing to put their name forward to serve in municipal politics. It takes courage, commitment and a willingness to listen.

Municipal decisions shape the places where we live, work and play. They influence our sense of belonging, our opportunities to thrive, and the health and well-being of our community.

I don’t take my right to vote for granted. I want to ask questions, understand priorities and make an informed choice.

Thank you, Anita Bergsma, for meeting me at a local gem, Lyla’s House, to sit over tea and have an honest conversation. I appreciated the opportunity to ask questions, hear your perspective and share what matters to me.

Thank you also to Jason Brass and Chantel Garneau for making time during a busy campaign to connect and answer my questions. Those conversations meant a great deal.

Whatever your choice, please make your voice heard. Ask questions, get involved and vote.

The health of our community deserves our participation. 💜

🏡 ACTON... I NEED YOUR HELP! 👀❤️

I’m on a little house-hunting mission, and I have a feeling someone in our community might just have the answer! 🔑

I’m working with a buyer who would LOVE to call Acton, Ontario home, and we’ve got a pretty specific wish list.

🥇 FIRST CHOICE: DR. MOORE COURT!

But we’re also open to other neighbourhoods in Acton.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

🏡 An updated bungalow
🚗 A garage
✨ A well-maintained, move-in-ready home
📍 Acton, Halton Hills

And here’s where YOU come in...

Maybe you’ve been quietly thinking about selling.

Maybe your neighbour has mentioned downsizing.

Or maybe you know someone who’s been saying, “I think it might be time for a change...” 👀

Sometimes the perfect home isn’t sitting on Realtor.ca waiting to be discovered.

Sometimes it’s sitting right down the street, and the owner hasn’t even thought about putting up a FOR SALE sign yet! ❤️

So, Acton, let’s put our small-town connections to work!

💬 Know someone who might be thinking about selling?

📩 Send me a DM, share this Reel, or tag someone who might be able to help!

And if it’s YOUR home that might be a match, I’d love to have a completely confidential, no-pressure conversation.

Let’s see if we can find this buyer their perfect Acton home! 🏡💛
