My book launch will be a potent descent into the terrain of the feminine shadow, the themes that have been cast into shadow by our culture, society and remnants of religious patriarchal structures that fear a woman in her power. And while, yes, we are exploring the terrain of the feminine, this event is not exclusive to women. In fact, there is a deep importance in all humans being willing to understand and disentangle from the programming that has taught us to dilute the feminine, to keep it palatable, digestible and pleasing. If you want to truly know a woman, you must be willing to know her shadow. And if you want to encompass the depth and magnitude of your own womanhood, then you too must be willing to descend into the deeper, “darker” terrain of the feminine. My book gives a voice to all that has been shamed, tabooed, cast into shadow, misunderstood and dismissed. It illuminates the power of our blood, the sanctity of the womb, female sexuality, birth and death. It also explores the initiations and adversity many women face and how, when these experiences are integrated, they can become pathways of resilience rather than binds of victimhood. This book is a transmission, and its power and potency will be reflected in the launch, which will be a potently curated evening of wisdom sharing, storytelling, live readings and nourishing live music. Our 2027 Melbourne semester and production are in motion 🌀 Comment SEMESTER if you want to get involved in creating meaningful art with other passionate individuals. The arts hold an intrinsic key to our wellbeing. They have the capacity to reconnect us with ourselves, with one another, and with something greater than the individual. Through creativity we remember, through ritual we make meaning, and through collective expression we find our way home. At Eclectica, we are passionate about carving out pathways of return -inviting people back into relationship with their innate creativity, their authentic expression, and the ancient wisdom of creating in community. Our 2027 “semester” will take a different form. It will be presented as an immersive one-month artist development program, making it more accessible to our interstate and international students. It is open to all genders and all levels of dance experience, from absolute beginner to advanced. The program will culminate in a full-scale production. Ceremony to me is a way of marking the pivotal points of an initiative process within life. They are the markers in which we acknowledge a certain depth in the weaving with spirit. While this weaving is always happening and ever present - there are certain points in which we can stop and ignite the flame of awareness of the divine in our hearts, and in doing so we bring ourselves into a stronger presence that serves us as we step through the threshold. Without a moment to pause and recognise, without the awareness and intention of the passage at hand, we are walking blindly. The power of intention is the greatest tool of our own free will that we have, and as walk with intention the language of prayer begins to quietly hum through our bloodstream until it is felt with a force undeniably moves you into deeper union. This is what I can reconcile from this intimate and humble ceremony just days before I birthed my second baby. The influence of honouring The beauty of sitting with women The power of calling on nature The way that being truly seen cracks the hard shell we place around ourselves. These women here are some of my dearest sisters, many of them of 10+ years. All absolute magic and power in their own right - I’m grateful to have received the powerful current that was cultivated. I had arrived on Bundjalung country, where our family temporarily relocated for the birth, just a few days before. I felt welcomed by the land as we sat next to and swam in the rich mahogany tea tree lakes. It’s wild how much Teva was present in this ceremony, now that I have known his personality earthside for 6 months. He was in the birds, the river beside us and in the trees, singing out to us, weaving his sweet presence. I truly believe our babies are the master orchestrators - moving all the pieces into place before the grand arrival. It was after this day that I really understood he had called us up onto that land Thank you to my sister @caitlinpriday for calling in and holding this space for me, you absolute witch 🫶 This profound experience of being a birthing woman is the greatest honour and I hold it sacred. I honour this sacred life - I honour life.
