I'm still processing Sunday, I'm still in a feeling of awe and complete appreciation!! Ya'll about to get sick of all the posts coming, but I wrote a letter to myself after taking the time to process that I wanted to share!

Dear Tan,

Thank you for showing up for yourself, even when it was hard.

Thank you for trusting your ancestors to guide, protect, and provide for you throughout this journey.

Thank you for not giving up on your vision, even when it felt too big, too complicated, too expensive, or too scary. Thank you for believing in the beauty of your imagination, even when you weren't sure others would see it.

Thank you for allowing yourself to be dramatic in the most beautiful way.

Thank you for doing the work to heal, to grow, to love yourself, and to be present enough to enjoy the moments you've worked so hard to create.

Because girl, that shit got HARD.

You've experienced heartbreak, loss, disappointment, and moments that could have broken your spirit. There are people you wish were still here to share this moment with you. But through it all, you kept going.

Thank you for still being here. Thank you for not giving up on yourself or on life.

I'm proud of you, Tan. And I know little Tan is proud of you, too. Baby girl is probably in awe of the woman you've become and everything you've created.

You did a really good job. Not just with this concert, but with getting yourself to this moment.

And more than anything, thank you for living in your muchness.

For dreaming big, loving deeply, creating boldly, and refusing to make yourself smaller for the comfort of others.

Your muchness is beautiful. Your muchness is needed. And by embracing it, you remind others that they have permission to embrace theirs, too.

You are not too much. You have never been too much. You are always enough.

I hope you never let anyone take away your sunshine.

Love, Tan ❤️

I have got to give these two men their flowers!! Just a casual conversation with @_iamlbj about the things that I'm working through in putting on this production we're trying to figure things out with the arrangements, it's getting to the wire but I always trust God has my back! Larry goes "Tan I compose, I can do this"! Say less!!!!!!!!!! @iceonkeys even in the mist of dealing with inland hurricanes in Indiana, loss of power for weeks!!! Still was concerned with the arrangements of the show! I literally was like Josh don't worry about me sir are you and yours ok? Thank ya'll!!!!! I'm excited for you all to see the work of these two gentlemen!!!

Its always a pleasure to rock at home, at black owned/ black centered establishments, for black centered/black curated events, for black people; though this event is certainly open to/for everyone to enjoy!!!

Concurrently, its very important in this day and age to have spaces where we can present our music, in our establiments, to our people, and welcome others to join into something that we control, for us, by us!!!

We thank Maggie Brown, Sandra Bivens and the whole Brown Derby Jazz conglomerate for including us in such a prestigious venture.

We acknowledge and greatly appreciate the generous contributions from our dear sponsors: The 51st Business Association and Wells Fargo.

Come join us for a night of re-visioned art by one of thee foremost jazz organ trios in the world! See you there.

🎷 Jazz with heart, history, and forward motion.

Something special is coming to Birch Creek this fall.

Join the Birch Creek Associates Volunteers on Saturday, October 10 for the Fall Fundraiser featuring the Kirby Fellis Quintet: Indigo Soul.

Rooted in hard bop and inspired by the rich legacy of Black American music, Indigo Soul blends beloved standards and original compositions with driving swing, smoky grooves, lush harmonies, and fiery improvisation.

Deeply rooted. Distinctly of the moment. And full of soul.

📅 October 10
🕠 5:30–9 PM
