Third piece in the DDIB: Chapter 5 Collection entitled

Detroit Story 📖

Telling the story of Detroit through the lens of the Black American experience.✨

Now that we, African Americans, are “free” and able to settle ourselves in any city of America we want, now we need stability.

As artsy and beautiful as the Harlem Renaissance and the Black Creative Revolution was for the Black American, the career of an artist was not deemed as respectable or stable enough to build the foundation of family and future generations on.

The best place for a little black family, sometimes barely 1 generation removed from slavery, could do was to move to where the work is. This was clearly a product of the Industrial Revolution.

All these people coming up to Northern states to get their own lil slice of the American pie.

Insert the biggest good that Detroit has been known to produce: The Automobile 🚗

The Packard Plant was one of the biggest Automobile manufacturing plants in America and it is mostly still standing today here in Detroit.

Here, we have our foundational black couple, that @shelbylov3 now affectionately call Sandra Mae (Sandy Mae) & James Robinson. An average American couple with a loving stay at home wife and a hard working Plant worker husband.

The 9 to 5 work week is established here. The generational mindsets that differ between the blue collar and white collar and the entrepreneurs. The almost nonexistent habit of work-life balance. The legacy of Plant Life.

Prints of the latest work and collections past are officially available!

There is no magic without community 🤗

With our models digitals & interviews more than halfway done, @shelbylov3 decided to bring the band together.

Let’s go outside 🤩

To our first DDIB Cast & Crew Picnic 🧺

The spot was beach, conversation was interactive & fun, and the food was served up by the CEO herself! Definitely added to the staple tradition list.

Mark your calendars 📆 for September 26th.
