Looking back at Foodie Fest this summer. None of what made that day good happened fast.

The dishes, the setups, the people behind them, all of it took time nobody saw. You can't rush the process. You can only let it take the time it needs.

Worth remembering, months later.

I wasn’t expecting to find my new favorite taco at this food fest!!!

📍Calder Plaza, Grand Rapids

Here’s what I tried:

🥔 Twisted Potato (Asian Street Food): 8/10
🌮 Chicken Taco (Taco’s Mexico): 11/10 — I bought one… then went back for two more! 😭❤️
🍧 Kona Ice (Monster Mango & Watermelon): 10/10

Other stalls I spotted:
• Spicy Bangkok
• Mini Pancakes
• Mexican Spicy Fruit Cocktail (next on my list!)
• Face painting & henna
• Shopping stalls with dresses, caps & accessories

If you’re in Grand Rapids this weekend, this fest is worth checking out. Which stall would you try first? 👇

If you missed Foodie Fest, you missed more than food.

You missed the music, the vendors, the families, the DJs, the youth market, the beer garden, the conversations, the culture.

One of those weekends where your phone only came out to capture the moment, not escape it.

A real taste of Grand Rapids, and a reminder of what it feels like when the city shows up.

So go ahead and put it on your calendar for next year, because this is one worth coming back to.

We checked out the @citygrandrapids @grandrapidsfoodiefest today, and it did not disappoint. 🤤 From unique bites @dolceminicakes @createjba @teotihuacanchicago @stix_on_food to amazing local vendors, there was something for everyone, and the kids had an absolute blast!

If you’re looking for plans tonight or tomorrow, this is your sign. Grab your friends or family, come hungry, soak up the vibes, and support some incredible local food vendors.

Foodie Fest has always been about more than showing up, eating good food, and going home.

It’s about creating the kind of experience we usually have to leave Grand Rapids to find.

The food, the music, the cultures, the performers, the energy of everybody being in one place and feeling like they’re part of something bigger.

That’s what Taia and Amanda are trying to build every year.

Not just another festival, but a shared experience that feels like it belongs here.
