A weee bit over a year ago, a year and 7 days to be exact, I hosted The Backyard Collectives first event.

Except at the time it wasn't called The Backyard Collective + I didn't know it would be the first event.

I've always loved hosting. Even as a little girl when it was technically my mom who was hosting. I loved watching the room fill up with smiles, laughter and chitter chatter. But it always felt frivolous to host more than a holiday party, until it didn't....

The night of friendsgiving, with 30 to 40 people in my backyard, I looked around and realized i could do this whenever I wanted.

And so The Backyard Collective was born!

The first official event happened about a month later, as a launch party in the same space.

TBC has grown slowly but surely since then. From Backyard Yoga to a Clothing swap, Poetry Night and even a Summer Beer Olympics, we've hosted a lot of hearts.

I haven't really had a roadmap though. I've just been going where the wind blows.

Back in July, the wind blew to a weekly yoga class. It felt like a good framework, somewhere to start laying the foundation.

In October, I decided to put the weekly session on a holiday hiatus starting in November and take the time to figure out where I wanted my yellow brick road to lead...

Well I figured it out and I don't think you'll be surprised to find, the road leads to a TBC digital companion called TBC's Digital Backyard.

I've shuffled through a garden of projects over the last few years, most of which barely even sprouted. All of which fertilized the soil for The Backyard Collective to actually grow...
