I know I say this every year, pero somehow, every year the Newark Arts Festival finds a way to outdo itself. @newarkarts ♥️

I look forward to this festival all year long. There’s something deeply nourishing about being surrounded by art, artists I love, and people who create because something within them simply won’t allow them not to.

It’s only a week long, pero that one week fuels my entire year.

As the months pass, I’ll find little bookmarks tucked inside books and notebooks, small reminders of beautiful moments I’ve lived. Suddenly, I’m transported back to a memory I didn’t even realize I’d preserved. That’s what this festival gives me. Moments worth returning to.

What made this year especially beautiful was seeing so many LOCAL artists take the stage. Artists I’ve shared conversations with about our dreams, about the stages we hope to stand on one day.

And there they were. IN THEIR MOMENTS. SLAYING.

I cried so much this week. Happy tears. Proud tears. The kind that come from knowing how much it takes to keep choosing your dreams, even when the road isn’t easy.

I’m so incredibly proud of US. Our resilience, our imagination, our willingness to keep showing up and making space for one another.

Lauren Craig, thank you for leading the charge and dreaming so boldly for Newark.

Daryl Stewart, thank you for producing these extraordinary moments.

Adrienne Wheeler, thank you for curating the brilliance that lives among us.

Kabre, a walking, breathing work of art.

Delilah, because DELILAH IS THE TRUTH. PERIOD.

And to the entire Newark Arts Festival team, YA SLAYED!

There’s something powerful about witnessing people you love become the very things they’ve dreamed of being.

We’re not just watching art happen. We’re watching each other become.

Newark, I love you. Until next year. Aunque I’ll probably still be talking about this one for months.
