My band @notmyweekend’s new
song “Brain Rot” is streaming everywhere today via @smartpunkrecords ‼️
After our last single “Over My Head” I didn’t feel like we had the correct song to follow it up with. All the songs we’ve been making for our upcoming album are great, but none of them quite felt like they should be the next thing people hear, so we got back in the studio with @joelferber and @rott3nfaerie
I started the session by saying we should make a song with an acoustic guitar driving the verses while still being upbeat and fun, because I felt like that was an area of our new album that hadn’t been fully fleshed out yet. We talked about being inspired by bands like Weezer, 5 Seconds Of Summer, and Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus.
We had so much fun and made each other laugh so much that I wanted that feeling to be what people heard next. @deven.pile Had the finishing touches on the drums! I hope everyone loves the song as much as we do!

For some reason I saw a silver a skull at a 45° angle with green slime all over it my head for the single art! And I knew that could be the lyric video as well if we did it practically! Luckily the beautiful @_jade_ia was willing to paint a skull, make the slime, and let me borrow her camera while she poured slime all over it against a paper backdrop we taped up in my garage🧪🙌She also wrote out all the lyrics on printer paper that I then filmed on my iPhone to overlay with the skull for the final video! NO AI EVER LETS GO🔥 It’s cropped off here but be sure to watch the full frame on our YouTube!
