Come see me at my debut MMA fight Friday 19th June @ Dee Why RSL. Could be my retirement fight too, who knows? Let’s just take these things one step at a time.

If @dc_mma tells you “train hard, like harder than you think you can and be confident, just believe in yourself” then that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

I won’t lie, working late nights and training early mornings for five months has been one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done especially when those early mornings have led to countless stupid little injuries that you’ve got to walk around with for the rest of the day.

It’s been an intense and humbling learning curve but an experience I know I’ll never regret and I’m looking forward to the challenge of applying it all in the cage.

Well fuck, this one’s tough innit?

Sunday, March 15th, will be my last official service at The Waratah.

The way there is nothing I can write here that can encapsulate the last 2.5 years, and what this venue has done for me. The people I’ve been so privileged to be introduced to, and even more so to now be friends with. The Waratah will always be a piece of me, and I hope I, it. I love this venue with my heart and my soul.

Find your people and love them fucking hard.

You’ll still see me around, probably at the tah (they can’t get rid of me that easily), along with some of your fave watering holes.

Alas, come through in the next two weeks, drink some bundys, cognac, calvados, chin some Guinness, and have a little boogie with me. One last time.

A lot of people ask me how I stay so positive and while it’s a flattering and seemingly simple question my neurodivergent mind can’t help to overanalyse and dissect why such a neutral characteristic of mine has come to be and the best analogy I have is that it is a double edged sword.

On one side is the part of me that faces forward toward my aspirations and goals and on the other side is the life experience of triumphs and challenges I’ve had thus far. Everything I look toward motivates me to keep making the best decisions I can make and so I articulate them to make sure at any moment I can ask myself the question “does this action match the outcome I desire?” and on the other hand the life I have lived has abided by this rule resulting in outcomes of both triumph and challenge of my own making. Regardless of both, they both disregard the present and that’s something I’m working on getting better at.

As much as I love the chaotic and anxious excitement of challenge and uncertainty knowing I’ve risen to the occasion time and time again I also crave certainty and a level of subconscious control that requires sacrifice. This combination of characteristics invites a consistently ambitious adversity that requires a stoic lifestyle built on delayed gratification over an immediately enjoyable hedonistic lifestyle - not something a neurodivergent mind devoid of rewarding hormones associated with overcoming challenge tend to produce so naturally.

What does any of this have to do with positivity? I’m not sure. It’s hard to communicate what I’m trying to share when people ask me why I am the way I am but what I can say is that I know where I’ve been and I know where I’m trying to go. In the process of traversing the spectrum of time in this body of mine I am simply trying my best to sustainably make it through the same as you and that’s where utilising positivity helps. It doesn’t mean I don’t hurt, in fact chemically I’m naturally geared towards low fuel on that front yet philosophically I understand more and more what it takes of myself to get where I desire to be. meet jimmy. he’s young, ambitious and will take whatever he’s passionate about to the ends of the earth. you can’t miss him, literally, because he’s usually the tallest in any room

we will forgive him for a dirty chopping board, or two, because he’s literally operating at a different altitude than the rest of us, and the air is thin up there

often found meal prepping, at the gym, drinking matcha or at chinese noodle house. also probably the only person we know to celebrate his 21st birthday with a charcuterie party

he is outrageously creative, and definitely one to watch for the years to come
