To my dearest muse Kylee,

There are so many things I admire about you, but what continues to leave me in awe is the way you create spaces that make people feel seen, celebrated, and deeply connected to who they are. Watching the success of Morena felt like witnessing something much bigger than an event.

It felt like a movement, a homecoming, a love letter to every brown-skinned girl who has ever wondered if she was enough. You created a blueprint—not just for Filipinas, but for all women of colour—to proudly take up space, to embrace their beauty without apology, and to see themselves reflected in a room full of people who understood their story. What made Morena so special wasn’t simply the beauty on display. It was the culture. The history. The pride. The sense of belonging. You brought together a community that has always existed, but through your vision, you gave it a place to gather, celebrate, and remember where it comes from. You reminded people that being Filipino is not just an identity—it’s a feeling, a heritage, a connection that lives within us no matter where we are in the world.

I watched you pour your heart into every detail, and what emerged was something truly remarkable. You created an atmosphere where people weren’t just attending an event; they were coming home. Home to their roots, their culture, their stories, and to each other. What made it even more meaningful to me was the way you welcomed Janabakes into that space. Being included in something so intentional, so impactful, and so deeply rooted in community was an incredible honour. I’ll forever be grateful that you saw a place for Janabakes within your vision and allowed me to be part of such a beautiful celebration of culture and identity. It meant more than you know to contribute, even in a small way, to something that touched so many people. Your support, trust, and belief in me is something I will always carry with me.

This one was personal.

Morena was a celebration of Filipina culture and community, and being part of it both as event stylist and as a Filipina business owner meant a lot.

@glamwithk_ gave me the brief and said she trusted me. Tropical, sculptural, no limits. Balloons hung from 6m ceilings, a styling moment at every stall including the DJ booth, and a room that stopped people in their tracks.

Highlights from the Morena event 🤎

Had the pleasure of capturing the Morena event, celebrating Filipino businesses, talent, and community. It was amazing to see everyone come together to support one another and celebrate culture and creativity.

A massive shoutout to Kylee for organising such an incredible event. The amount of work, passion, and heart that goes into creating an event like this doesn’t go unnoticed, and she absolutely killed it!

Grateful to have captured these moments and can’t wait for the next one 🥹
