@_jbourbon is an Australian artist whose striking black-and-white paintings draw from vintage advertising, comic books, horror imagery and forgotten print media. With a background in graphic design, James transforms found imagery into bold, high-contrast compositions exploring nostalgia, consumerism and the darker side of pop culture.

Using photocopying and collage to build his compositions, James meticulously recreates them in paint, combining vintage horror, underground comics and a gritty, Xerox-inspired aesthetic.

We are excited to welcome James back for our upcoming Halloween group show, ‘Beautiful Monsters.’

Opening 5-8pm Saturday October 31 at
Superwow Gallery, Moffat Beach, QLD

"The Joy of Lucha Libre with Chris Things" Opening Night on September 26 at @superwow.gallery - OFFICIAL LINEUP ANNOUNCEMENT

Hi friends! So as we have less than TWO WEEKS until our upcoming #LuchaLibre group art exhibition at @superwow.gallery, I thought it time I let the cat out of the bag & give out the full artist lineup that I've personally guest-curated - along with some tasty sneak-peaks!

I am honestly so honoured to have everyone on this list a part of this exhibition that is so personally important to me. #LuchaLibreMexicana has been a big part of my life for longer than I can remember. To get to celebrate that in what I believe to be Australia's FIRST EVER all #LuchaLibre Art exhibition is such a magical thing to me.

Massive thanks to to all who are a part of this thing! To say I'm excited about the lineup is an understatement. This collective is all about celebrating the joy of Lucha from all different perspectives - from all over the world! From Mexico to USA, Canada, Japan & right here in Australia.

Big thanks to @aaronjcraig, @blackflag_brewing, @heapsnormal & @sunshinecoastcouncil for making this possible!

Also, what even is a 'SURPRISE' no-ring gallery Lucha match?!

★ ARTIST SPOTLIGHT ~ @_jbourbon ★

One of the highlights from our OVERSPRAY opening event was watching local artist James Bourbon completely transform a car in his signature style.

Keep an eye out for this rad ride as it now cruises the streets of Miami

To our new followers (likely from all the way over the west coast, hello!) We wanted to re-introduce ourselves. We’re Amy (@forge.forward) and James (@_jbourbon) and we’re east coast print nerds. Both senior graphic designers with our own practices and businesses, we came together to make PRINT-O-RAMA earlier this year. Our first event in Brisbane in early July was a fantastic success and we’re absolutely stoked to bring it over to the other side of the country in December.

Applications for our Perth event are currently open. There are options of full tables and half tables and the option to add a t-shirt rack if you need it.

The event is on Saturday 5th December from 11am - 5pm at The North Perth Town Hall.

Applications are open until 11:59pm Monday 17th August. We’re looking for illustrators, graphic designers, self publishers, zine makers, comic book artists, graphic novel creators, lino / screen / riso printers and tattoo artists. Feel free to share any of our posts or tag your friends in the comments. We also encourage interstate makers to apply for all Rama’s, we want to mix up the creative landscape and share great quality print work!

In 2027 we will be holding events in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth as well, so if you can’t join us this time round we’ll be in a city closer to you soon :)
