Hey guys, we know (and you know) that things around The Red Room have been pretty quiet this year - so here is a long overdue update: All 3 of us have had a crazy year with a lot of change and some big personal life events to attend to; including starting new jobs, moving homes, getting married, moving to another country, health problems, pet health problems… all kinds of crazy lol. So as you’ve probably noticed, doing darkroom demos, hosting classes, and staying active online all got put on the backburner. And most importantly, we had to say goodbye to 1/3 of The Red Room when @angeliqueyvonne moved to Italy with her husband. The 3 of us started all of this together and the space will never be quite the same without her. So yeah we are sad, we are still crying about it ❤️‍🩹💔

Okay but this is all to say that we are truly sorry that we have been M.I.A. recently, but we are BACK. And we are back with some guuuud news: we will now be open 24/6 for our passholders!!! Come in and use the space 24-hours a day, 6 days a week. Closed Tuesdays, open every other day, all day. 144 hours a week of available print time. AND to top it all off, we finally have a door code!! All for yous.

More news to come soon. As always, thank you to our passholders and anyone who has supported our little space - We love you!

Never get tired of looking at slides on the light table! Such nice light on this day out exploring with @_jillianmeyer_ a while back. Provia 100 was the perfect film. I encourage everyone to shoot more slide film, it's magic!

Jillian & Audrey on 16mm film.

My elementary school art teacher said something yesterday which resonated with me; "To focus the viewer on a single event allures the audience away from overbearing sensationalism and entices the mind to enjoy the singularity of a bare essential event. As artists we have an obligation to promote the value and pleasure derived from immediate sensory input."

In this perfectly imperfect film we see a glimpse into the lives of two wonderful humans, we see the joy and happiness that they are collectively experiencing and for a split second we experience that same joy. In that, I achieved my goal.

It’s been one year that we’ve been open!
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has supported this little space 🥹 we have been so grateful for the community this has brought us and we love to see what everyone comes in and creates, it’s been so inspiring. We appreciate everyone who has come to our workshops, or just come in and printed or have passed our name around. Here’s to a great year and more to come!
