In 2026, Black players make up only 6.8% of Major League Baseball. With African American athletes representing such a small percentage of the league, we believe it is important for us to step in and help create opportunities for young players who dream of reaching that level but may not always have access to the resources, exposure, and support needed to get there.

Our players are motivated to overcome adversity and help change the narrative. We want them to understand that minority athletes deserve the same opportunities to develop, compete, and succeed in the game of baseball as anyone else.

We look at players such as Jordan Walker, the 2026 MLB Home Run Derby Champion, Hunter Greene, Tre Phelps out of the University of Georgia who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kaelen Culpepper, and many others. Their success serves as a powerful reminder to our young athletes that anything is possible.

Representation matters. When our players see someone who looks like them succeeding on one of baseball’s biggest stages, it gives them something greater than inspiration—it gives them belief. It allows them to picture themselves standing on that same field one day. With hard work, discipline, determination, the right resources, and people willing to invest in them, that dream can become a reality.

We are also proud to recognize our Hometown Heroes—players who were born and raised right here in Jacksonville, Florida, including some who once played at Hammond Park. These young men have gone on to experience success at the high school level and earn opportunities to continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level.

To each of them, we simply want to say thank you. Thank you for paving the way, representing our community, and showing the next generation of players that their dreams are within reach.

The future of baseball in our community is extremely bright, and we are committed to doing everything we can to make sure our young athletes have the opportunity to be a part of it.
