🇺🇸 Meet Josue from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) 🇺🇸. He joined Abriendo Mentes as a volunteer while studying Biomedical Health Sciences and Political Science.

As he wrapped up his time with us, he wanted to share these words:

“Being able to make an impact at Abriendo Mentes during my time here has been one of the greatest blessings I have received in my life. The children and the community are incredible, and they have impacted me just as much.

I know that this organization always prioritizes the well-being of the community, and I am confident that it will continue to grow and positively transform the community around it.

On behalf of myself and the Roan Scholars Program at @etsu , thank you so much for giving me this blessing. See you later, and Pura Vida!”

To be known by name.

I’ve been blessed to have spent time this summer working at Trail West Lodge and Woodleaf Towne as a horse wrangler and in the kitchen.

I’ve learned a lot this summer, especially on the importance of being fully known and loved.

I’ve gone by lots of names this summer, like “the horse guy”, “the miner”, “ninja”, “Kason the 67 twin”, and many more. The name I cherish the most is being God’s son.

I’ve been blessed enough to be known by name and loved, and I’ve been blessed enough to serve others the way that I feel cared & loved on.

So thankful for all the silly moments and people I’ve met that called me by name!

This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to serve on Summer Staff at @woodleaftowne in the Bike & Arrow Tag area.

Coming all the way from Belgium, I never imagined I would be welcomed with so much love. Thank you, @woodleaftowne, for opening your doors and making me feel like family.

To every Summer Staff member—thank you. You made this one of the best summers of my life. I came here not knowing many people, and I'm leaving with friends for life.

More than anything, I'm grateful to God for letting me be part of His work. Watching campers have the time of their lives while hearing about Jesus was such a privilege. Serving alongside all of you gave me a sense of purpose I'll never forget.

Thank You, Lord, for allowing me to serve, grow, and build friendships that will last a lifetime.
