Preview of some stills of our upcoming music video for 𝔘𝔫𝔩𝔬𝔠𝔨 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔇𝔬𝔬𝔯 our dream pop black sheep of a song. Sometimes its required to take risks in order to make something, in love and creativity. This song is basically about that. Embracing the vulnerability, the sappiness and “cheesy” aspects of love that we so easily can shy away from. This song is meant for everyone and though it may sound silly, it means something to me. 🗝️🗝️🗝️🌹🌹

Mirror of Venus are the LA post-punk quartet of Joy Damert (vocals, synth), Margot Rhodes (vocals, guitar), Jose Espinoza (bass), and Heidi Weber (drums) — four musicians who first played together a decade ago in San Francisco’s Mission scene and reformed as a project once their separate lives brought them to Los Angeles. Their debut LP “Never Say Forever,” out on à La Carte Records, is that project fully arrived: nine tracks and forty minutes of post-punk that treats atmosphere and urgency as the same problem.

The reference points sit across a specific stretch of late-‘70s and early-‘80s UK post-punk — The Durutti Column’s patient guitar architecture, Wire’s economy, Siouxsie and the Banshees’ vocal command, Xmal Deutschland’s dense percussive drive — with C86 shimmer around the edges. The record’s central preoccupation is identity as performance and presence as commodity: the specific loneliness of watching yourself perform online in real time, worked into songs that stretch and contract with cinematic patience. Post-punk.com on the title track: “hypnotic, melodic … gorgeous vocal interplays spanning the sublime to the feral … culminating in a glorious hook.”

Pressed on two limited 12” vinyl variants alongside all digital platforms — “Never Say Forever” is a debut that behaves like the band has been sitting with these ideas for years, because they have.

Not me being belated to my own birthday 😅 but Wednesday was my 38th Birthday! this past year a massive energetic refocus occurred in me. Like a good Leo I have always had an affinity with hair and for the past 9 months I’ve been in cosmetology school. I’m finally nearing the end of the program and I want to ~invite~ yall to follow my hair page @joy.dyevision ✂️💜✂️ …and yes top middle pic is me as a child after I cut my own mullet… and so began my hairstylist journey 🌅
