towards the end of the reception, I changed into my party dress— a teeny, tiny @nettabenshabu.official mini. I paired the dress with an ivory @stetsonusa and a pair of @ysl heels made for dancing. Because my wedding gown was so simple and traditional, I wanted the party dress to be much more of a statement in contrast.

after slipping on my party dress and dancing to the last songs of the evening (& singing to Aggie War Hymn, iykyk), it was time to head to the after party.

our rehearsal dinner was held at Joe T. Garcia’s— a Fort Worth institution that my family has frequented since I was a kid. there was something beautiful about kicking off our wedding weekend in a place already filled with so many wonderful memories. sharing a pitcher of skinny margs at Joe T’s is a Fort Worth rite of passage if there ever was one.

the evening was intimate by design— we included around 40 of our nearest and dearest for chips & queso, fajitas, margs and mingling. we kept the remarks simple— my best friend from college, Laurel, and one of Joe’s closest friends, Andy, absolutely killed their respective speeches.

returning to a familiar place for one of the most significant weekends of our lives was both nostalgic and exciting. making new memories with my husband & our favorite people here was very special to me. this is a reminder that the best celebrations don’t always need to be grand— sometimes they just need to feel like home.
