From a piece of 2.5" tubing to a purpose-built fabrication tool. 🛠️
Tonight we jumped into Fusion 360 and designed a two-piece bandsaw jig specifically around a 2.5" 90° exhaust bend.
The goal was simple: give a welder/fabricator a fast, repeatable way to position a 90, lock in the angle, clamp the entire assembly directly into the bandsaw vise, and make the cut.
But we weren't stopping at one angle.
The jig features drop-in indexing stops every 7.5° from 7.5° all the way through 90°, allowing the end of the tubing to be positioned consistently before the cut. The two halves use locating pegs to keep everything registered, while the outside remains flat so the bandsaw vise can do exactly what it's supposed to do.
And one of our favorite parts?
The entire design is scalable in the slicer, meaning the same concept can be adapted for different tubing diameters without starting the design from scratch.
Designed from the ground up in Fusion 360 and headed to the printers next. This is exactly the kind of stuff we built JP_3D_NW for—taking a real fabrication problem and turning it into a functional tool.

Lots of donations were brought today by the @kitsap_subiecrew for Evergreen Elementary School! It’s so good to see a community come together for such a good cause.

Thanks, @peninsulasubaru for hosting and @goat.coffeeco for my tasty, decaf beverage!

I don’t have the best looking or the most heavily modified Subie out there, but I’m still proud to show it off. 🥹

It was an excellent turnout today for Cars & Coffee combined with a school supply donation event for Evergreen Elementary School.

I never thought we’d be “two cars in the garage” kind of people, but here we are! 😂
