What we talked about at She Night 🤍✨

A little recap of the message because wow… the battle for your mind is REAL.

We talked through Philippians 4:4–9 and how to fight back:

✨ 1. Prepare your mind
🤍 2. Bring the battle to God
🌷 3. Train your mind in truth

Because when fear comes, comparison creeps in, worst-case thinking takes over, or the old story starts playing again… we return to truth.

Whatever the battle looks like in your mind today, remember this: the Lord is near. 🤍

Missed She Night or want to watch the message again? You can rewatch it online or on the Compassion Church YouTube channel! 🤍✨

I’ve prayed for this kind of church community for a long time, especially this kind of community with women: ones I can learn from, grow alongside, be encouraged by, laugh with, serve with, and genuinely want to do life with. I’ve found myself overwhelmed with gratitude that God answered that prayer… just not without asking something of me first.

Finding this community came at a cost.

It meant taking a risk and walking away from a church and people I had known and loved for 20 years. It meant stepping into something unfamiliar and deciding that on the very first Sunday of 2026, I was going to go all in. Not sitting back wondering, “What can this church or these people do for me?” but asking, “What can I bring? How can I serve? How can I love people well? What happens if I actually let myself belong here?” And (maybe?) most importantly, it meant choosing to come with a soft, open heart.

That wasn’t necessarily easy. A past relationship within the church had left a bad taste in my mouth and made it tempting to walk into new relationships guarded, skeptical, or waiting to be disappointed. But I didn’t want old hurt to decide what new relationships were allowed to become. I’m so thankful I took that chance.

There is also something incredibly healing about being surrounded by women in the church whom I genuinely respect, admire, and want to become more like, especially my Pator’s wife, Julie. There’s something especially meaningful about being able to look at her and think, “I respect the way she lives. I respect the way she loves people. There are things in her that I want to learn from and emulate.”

I don’t think I realized how much that would mean to me, or how slowly and gently God would use it to heal a part of my church hurt.

Sometimes the community you’ve been praying for requires you to leave what’s comfortable, risk being known again, bring something to the table instead of waiting to be served, and keep your heart soft enough to receive what God is trying to give you.

I’m really, really grateful I did. 🤍
