Senior Spotlight 🌟 Kaden Jay Pfister! Kaden finished a BFA in Theatre with a concentration in Performance this past Spring.⁣ ⁣ Tell us about your work and/or creative process.⁣ There is no right or wrong way to do this work. You can strive for perfection, but you must not expect it. My work and my craft have become fluid. I have learned to create and encourage my work to simply exist and be.⁣ ⁣ How has your time at VCUarts shaped you as an artist?⁣ VCUARTS provides a space where artists are able to explore and express their craft while receiving guidance from experienced professors and industry experts in the area. Offering a wide array of techniques and approaches to choose from, VCUARTS allows students to grow from their failures. Getting the chance to fail, and having a space where anyone can attempt the choice that stretches them, has helped me grow.⁣ ⁣ Greatest accomplishment?⁣ Getting the chance to be a part of VCU mainstages like “Macbeth3” and “Gross Indecenc,” Student projects like “The Legend of Georgia Mcbride” at SALT, acting in short films, directing film projects, and attempting hands-on technical crew positions. I will look back and celebrate these moments and projects.⁣ ⁣ Biggest lesson?⁣ I am self-sufficient in my work.⁣ ⁣ Mentors?⁣ David Toney (DT) has been instrumental to my growth at VCUARTS. Through working with him and seeing his approach to the craft of acting, I learned a great deal about myself and the world around me. DT taught me to show up and do my job. DT encouraged my work to simply exist and be without judgment. I will never be able to truly thank David Toney enough for his impact on my craft.⁣ I wouldn’t be here today without Erica Hughes. Quite literally. The reason I chose VCUARTS was because of the work Erica Hughes does in her voice work. She was vital in my growth in learning the importance of your instrument. I will always be incredibly grateful for Erica’s teachings and helping shape my technical craft.⁣ ⁣ Congrats Kaden!!! We’re so proud of ya ❤️❤️❤️ @_kadenjay ⁣ @vcuarts
