American Exceptionalism, Radical Nationalism, or both?🇺🇸 These are pictures of me celebrating freedom for almost a week straight, but behind our praise of democracy and the end to British colonialism and imperialism in America, as a country, we continue to abandon our core values. Yesterday, July 4th, a partisan bill so controversial that it tied in the senate and the house barely passed the bill by a vote of 218 to 214, nearly entirely along party lines, (All 212 Democrats voted in unison against the bill) was signed by the president. But let’s make one thing clear, this 900 page bill isn’t the protectionism it claims to be- it’s a blueprint for authoritarianism dressed in red, white, and blue. They call it Big. Beautiful. But it’s really the biggest wealth pull‑up yet—leeching from low‑income America, stacking debt, and scapegoating brown people under the banner of security. This “Big Beautiful Bill” masks a massive regressive tax shift, crippling debt, and signed‑off cruelty to brown bodies, all flecked with “for your safety” nonsense. It betrays our core American values: true security is about caring for all, not casting fellow humans as scapegoats.
