Every year when the @breakthrought1d LA One Walk comes around, I find myself sharing my story again. But every year, I also have a little more of that story to share.

Since joining the Board of Directors for Breakthrough T1D Louisiana, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many families impacted by type 1. Different stories and challenges, but so many conversations come back to one thing: perspective.

We’ve all heard, “We’re five years away from a cure.” Then five years pass…

But I choose to look at the cup half full. Look at where we were five years ago compared to today. CGMs, automated insulin delivery, smarter pumps, and research that once seemed impossible becoming real.

We aren’t finished. The goal is still a cure that is effective and accessible to EVERYONE. And getting there takes research, advocacy, support, and funding.

That’s why the One Walk means so much to me.

Some of these pictures are from the 2023 Walk, where so much of this started. It brought the BayouBetics (lol, ik) together and introduced me to people who have genuinely become family. Looking at those pictures alongside ones from the Imagine Gala, and now having the privilege of serving on the local Board of the organization that brought us together, is pretty special and surreal.

So this year, come walk with us!

November 14 | Lafreniere Park | 10:30 AM

Just ONE mile.

I personally donated $100, and if you can, I challenge you to match me. But whether it’s $1, $5, $10, $20, or $50, every donation matters.

And if you can’t donate, just come walk. Show up. Meet this community. Be part of it.

We’ve made incredible progress, but there’s still work to do. So we keep choosing to see the cup half full, and we keep walking until type 1 diabetes is something we talk about in the past!

Donate or register at the link in my bio. 💙💙

The first Cut Purespective class is officially in the books. ✂️

Getting to bring this class to Paris Parker Salons in New Orleans for its very first run was such a full circle moment.

We spent the day breaking down invisible layers, soft bobs, and shaggy bixies, but it wasn’t just about the haircut. We focused on the consultation experience and how to take a guest’s inspiration, understand what they actually want, and turn it into a customized shape that works for them.

Because great hair starts before the first section is taken.

I’m so grateful Paris Parker trusted me to bring this class to life first. 🤍

Paris Parker, you set the bar high.

Who’s ready for Cut Purespective next? 👀
