The black, gold and green thoroughly seduced Patrycja Pioch-Makurat.

The Polish fashion photographer, on her first visit to the island in 2019, felt a gratifying sensory overload during her honeymoon vacay with her businessman spouse, Blazej Makurat.

"I completely fell in love with the place, the culture, the art, the people, and the overall vibe of Jamaica," Pioch-Makurat recounts during a phone interview from a shoot in Switzerland, where she resides, and is in-between setups with models.

@piochpatrycja committed to going behind the camera the next time she returned to The Rock to "create a photographic story inspired by everything I experienced [in Jamaica]".

That return leisure trip --- a week-long stay in St. Mary --- was booked earlier this year with her other half.
The creative whose work has been featured in the pages of glossies including @voguearabia @harpersbazaarus @elle and @lofficielusa made contact with SAINT International CEO Deiwght Peters with a pitch.

"I shared my idea and vision for the shoot. It felt natural to reach out to him and try to create something meaningful in such a special location," she shared with me for a @jamaicagleaner LIVING feature.

@franko_curls @ar.ianna6126 + @_kedahbr for her passion project.

Sharing behind-the-scenes deets, the trio of Sangster, Mesaam and Del Grande told me how they sharpened their insights into the value of natural movement on camera in working with Pioch-Makurat.
The models also spoke on what's it like having sisterhood support on set, and why they love what they do.

For the past few weeks I’ve been trying to find the right words to properly express myself. When Dreamland began it was an impromptu idea to celebrate my heritage, my community and to explore new avenues of creativity and expression after being away from home for the past two years.

Over the past few months I’ve been able to create work that continues to inspire me, I was able to form many new relationships with individuals I’m now proud to call friends, I’ve been able to bring new ideas to life and most importantly inspire my community. In the beginning I had no idea how large this project would grow and how many people would be interested in being involved. Months of preparation, days of shooting from sun up until midnight, driving all over Kingston and even out of town, flights to Jamaica on any break I was able to get from work/school all felt worth it in the end.

Thank you to everyone involved who gave their time and effort to help me create Dreamland. I couldn’t have done any of this without you. There’s a lot more to say but I’ll keep it short, nuff love :)
