🙏📚😮‍💨 Enormous thanks and gratitude and sadness yesterday, as my local independent bookshop of 20yrs (operating for 48yrs), @thesaurusbooks , closed its doors. From the very first moment I walked into this bookshop in 2006 and nervously introduced myself as a debut author of a novel and a new resident to their neighbourhood/city (coming from interstate & overseas), they could not have welcomed me more warmly 🥰🙏 Little did I know then, that this bookshop and its friendly, knowledgeable, genuinely dedicated staff would become a key touchstone of community connection for me, personally and professionally. Walks up Church St will never be the same without popping into Thesaurus to chat with Kate, Jenny and Kerry, who I very often caught hand-selling one of my books. 🥰
.
📚 🙏 Thesaurus Books was, without doubt, my greatest cheerleader as a bookseller in Melbourne!! From my first sold-out book launch in 2009 for my novel, to the many book launches for my children's books (two of them in my own home where Kate and Jenny came to enjoy the party and also sell books; as well as coming to a library) they always went above and beyond to support me, as well as other local authors and publishers. I can't tell you the buzz of excitement I got when one of my kids or a friend would text me and say, 'WOW! I've just seen the amazing window display of your book at Thesaurus!!' They always did the most wonderful window displays for me and other local Australian authors - how lucky we were! 🙏
.
🙏 Thank you to Luke, Judy, Kate, Jenny, Kerry and all of your wonderful staff for all that you have done for me, as well as other local authors and publishers. Our neighbourhood and local book community will miss you greatly. Congratulations on all that you have achieved and wishing you well for the future. Much love, Em xx

We are in desperate need of help — no food, no medicine, and every day is a battle for survival. My children’s eyes reflect hunger and pain I cannot ease. Please, your support can bring us a glimpse of hope.💔😢🙏

The gorgeous Mark Brandi just stopped by to sign copies of his latest novel, Southern Aurora.
Jenny & Kerry both adored this beautiful coming off age story & its lead character, Jimmy.
Another poignant and heartstring tugging offering from a master storyteller - grab your copy now.

Happy 22nd anniversary to the wonderful Jenny! So much for going back to teaching when your boys finished Primary School 15 years ago! Think we'll keep you forever!

Sneak Peek 👀

Okay, if you’ve been seeing all my posts about Don Winslow’s City on Fire and I haven’t convinced you to read it yet, then I hope this sneak peek, of Winslow himself, reading the opening scene of the book will finally sway you.

Here is the Godfather of contemporary crime fiction reading the opening scene of City on Fire.

Turn down the lights, grab some popcorn, and let this be music to your ears.
