📆 Long-term athletic development should be a slow-cooked process that prioritizes durability, strength, resilience, consistency, and health.
These are five trainable qualities that should be built steadily across childhood and adolescence.

💪🏻 Muscular Strength
The foundation of youth athleticism and injury resilience. An athlete’s ability to produce and tolerate force determines both performance and long-term health.

📈Motor Skill Development
The ability to coordinate the body in space under the constraints of sport. Movement literacy allows athletes to solve the problems competition presents.

⚡️🔋Speed and Power
The expression of strength through movement and how quickly that force can be applied. These qualities must be trained deliberately, not left to emerge from sport alone.

🏔️Work Capacity
The ability to repeatedly produce high-intensity efforts, recover between them, and tolerate growing sport volumes. Youth sports continue to increase demands, so athletes must be prepared for them.

🧠 Psychological and Behavioral Development
Often the most important quality of all. Even the most gifted athletes are limited by confidence, emotional regulation, and coachability.

To become a high-level athlete, there must be a standard that develops all of these qualities with a long-term vision in mind.

Train accordingly.
